Dove Tree Greenery Reviews (3)

Review: In August 2013, I purchased $3,000 worth of [redacted] trees from Dove Tree and its [redacted]. This includes 28 trees that Dove Tree was responsible for planting and in which were guaranteed for one year if they did not survive the winter. When I returned home the day Dove Tree planted last summer, I found that the trees were not planted and were in fact just placed on top of the existing grass surface. After questioning him about this finding, [redacted] informed us that this was done with intent because he feared that if he put them underground they would be getting too much water. Within 2-4 weeks after planting, I called [redacted] again to inform him that some of the trees he planted had been blown over by the wind because they were just sitting on top of the grass. This again triggered a concern that the [redacted] trees were not planted correctly, yet he assured us this was done on purpose and we should not have concern as he would replace the trees within a year if they were to die. By November, several of the trees began to brown and die and we contacted [redacted] and he told us that now is not the time to plant and that he would replace them at the beginning of the spring. After not hearing from him for several months, we began calling [redacted] again in April informing him that more than six of the trees that he had planted had died and needed replacement. He reassured us at that time that he would be by in the next few weeks to replace the trees. This phone call was followed by 10 additional phone calls and 4 personal visits to his nursery leaving messages on his phone and at his place of business. He never responded to any of our messages and we had to continue to pursue him. Today June **, 2014 we placed another call to [redacted] and finally he answered and was extremely hostile, belligerent, unhelpful, and arrogant and ended our phone call abruptly by screaming at me before hanging up. Before rudely hanging up he stated “calling me multiple times will not get me there any sooner and I WILL GET THERE WHEN I GET THERE.” Our frustration and disappointment with his lack of professionalism is beyond our ability to comprehend and we cannot resolve this situation satisfactorily. The public needs to be aware that getting into business with this landscaper will lead to nothing but aggravation and frustration.Desired Settlement: All we ask is for [redacted] and Dove Tree to uphold the promise they made when they sold us the trees in a more expeditious manner. Furthermore, an apology for his tone and lack of professionalism we faced in our last conversation would also be appropriate in this circumstance.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Dove Tree Greenery regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: My wife and I visited Dovetree Greenery in [redacted] on Saturday July ** and made arrangements to meet with the [redacted], to come to our home to discuss landscaping pricing. We discussed and agreed upon a price of 2,000 dollars which included shrubbery, mulch, dirt and creation of a flower bed. He came on Monday the ** to supervise his workers at which point he raised the price an additional 200 dollars. He then refused to lay down the mulch, overturn the dirt for the bed and made a mess of the yard. We have attempted numerous times to contact [redacted] regarding the unsatisfactory work and the overcharging, but he refuses to answer or return our calls and will not speak to us face to face.

Being that I am a 100% disabled Veteran, I trusted this man when he confided that he too served in Vietnam and would take care of a fellow Marine. I know believe those were lies too and his main goal was to take my money.Desired Settlement: I'm wiling to pay for the shrubbery and mulch provided by the company which is a 1000 value. I would like be to be reimbursed for the additional 1200 dollars I paid for labor fees in which was not completed.

Review: On May **, 2013, I purchased $1,105.80 of trees, bushes and other flowering plants from this establishment. Some of the items included a Red Japanese Maple ($400) plus multiple other perennials. I have an extensive garden and have purchased many items from other growers, in fact, from this company in the past as well, with excellent results.

I paid for the plants with an Amex card and requested delivery. The employee in the garden was the same person who made the delivery and the sale. There are no signs on the premises or on the receipt indicating "no guarantees."

Shortly after planting all the items, the majority of the plantings died. I understand we had a wet spring and I realize with a purchase that expansive, some would die, but I did not expect 75-80% of the items to die. The only plants that seemed to thrive were some potted plantings.

I returned to the store in early August after trying to ensure the plants would not survive and spoke to the same salesman, who informed me he would stop by to look at the dead plants. I left everything planted to show the store that the plants sold to me died. My yard is filled with plants and no other sellers plants died this year.

The salesman never showed up or called. I returned to the store on August ** and spoke to the same person, [redacted]. He told me his boss would not guarantee the plants. I asked why no one called me and he shrugged his shoulders.

I asked to speak to the boss and was given the name of [redacted], who I contacted at ###-###-####. I spoke to [redacted] and explained that I spent over $1,100 in plants for the summer and many of them died. He told me there are signs all over indicating that he does not guarantee plants and that I killed them when I planted them. I told him I have a big garden and many plants and only his died, especially the $400 Maple, which is generally a hardy tree. He then hung up on me! I called him back and he said he was tired of hearing me speak and hung up.

The behavior and the manner in which the owner and employee speak to a good customer was beyond rude. Most garden centers replace plants, especially if there was a large purchase.

I went to this place because it is new in town and I thought I would give the new place a chance. What a mistake.Desired Settlement: I am actually more appauled at the way the owner spoke to me and hung up then I am at the plants. I would expect that we could come to an agreement by him replacing some of the dead plantings, which I have not yet removed and are still in my yard.
