We realize this client cares very much about this pet and is trying to do the best for him medically. The patient was brought in by client for a dental procedure, in addition had a tooth surgical extraction, Feline Annual, update of vaccinations, as well as purchased revolution; client
also approved pre-anesthesia blood work. In addition, client stated "pet has had diarrhea for several weeks now" Patient has a previous history of Colitis. Therefore, the diarrhea is an occasional returning illnessThis can be brought on by multiple things.Due to the patients age (15) we were trying to be very cautious and provide supportive care for this pet at no additional charge to the client Money was not our concern as this client was not charged for the IV catheter or placement. It was only put in as precautionary measures for this patient during the procedure. It is true the catheter should have been removed prior to pick up and that was Technician error. The client did take the patient to the Animal Emergency clinic due to it was after hours when the client noticed the IV catheter still in the patient. The client was not charged by the Animal Emergency Clinic to have it removed. We have apologized profusely to this client for our error in allowing the patient to be checked out of our hospital prior to IV catheter removal. The patient was not placed in medical harm by the IV catheter being left in the arm of the patient. Although, we doe realize it was alarming to the client. The catheter could have been removed the following day at our clinic. I am rejecting this response because:The business did not explain why I had to request an audience with the vetFor $I expect the vet to talk to me before I leave the practiceI read that my cat was years old and that I should toss out my emotions and be prepared for him to die.If a person had surgical instruments left in them got sent home and told they could not see the doctor until the next day the doctor would be sued. I did not request money in this compliant, however, if I was charged by the animal emergency group I would have had to seek restitution

Dear Revdex.com:Again, our sincere apologies to this client and her pet for not making him/her feel like our priority. The doctor did speak with the client prior to the procedure in person and after the procedure through a phone call.   Our focus was and still is  preventative measures for her pet while under anesthesia, "at no additional charge to our client",  Throughout the procedure her pet and it's health was given our priority.   It was not an  instrument left in the patient and often patients are sent home with an iv catheter, depending on it's illness.   Although, sending this patient home with an iv catheter wasn't our intention.
