Review: I had my clothes washed at Downtown Cleaners. A designer shirt was missing and a designer cotton dresses was stained in several places with a blue inkish stains. Owner [redacted] (stated only his first name when I asked) rudely said his workers saw nothing and to sue him. He raised his voice, waved his hands and walked off as I was talking to him. Owner stated why would they steal one shirt and not more. Owner stated that somehow my clothes caused the stains. This is not the case since none of the clothes submitted for cleaning leaked color. The dress obviously was leaned against something that was able to soak through the dress like a stamped area of paint/ ink. The Banana Republic dress was ruined and a Yummie Tummie shirt was stolen.Desired Settlement: The Banana Republic was worn twice. It was purchased approx 5-6 months ago. The shirt was purchased a few weeks ago (used). It was in perfect condition. I would like them both replaced. They both can be purchased online on sale. I really liked my clothes and I am disappointed that a place across the street from my home would have such rude owners and crass customer service from the owner.

In response to the above-mentioned complaint, our position is as follows:

Although [redacted] lives directly across the street from our business, this was the first time that she used our services. She brought in a bunch of clothes weighing 64 pounds to be laundered (not cleaned) in bulk. There was no itemized bill/receipt for this service. Whether there was any spot(s) on the items of clothing at intake or delivery is absolutely not verified or verifiable. The receipt merely stated that 64 pounds of clothing was taken in. Her complaint to us came in ten days after the clothes were picked up.

We believe that the complaint is not genuine or meritorious; as a result, we do not wish to honor it to any extent.

We elect not to make any offer on this claim.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

There were 2 items of clothing. a shirt and a dress... The shirt was missing and was discovered after leaving the cleaners.

The dress was folded as was everything else and when unfolded you see a huge blue bl;otch resembling marker or paint... One of the ladies at the cleaners tried to wash it and returned it with stain and wrinkled roled up... This dress was worn maybe twice from Banana Republic...

Someone folded that dress originally and had to notice the splotches... It is very visible.

"[redacted] came in at 11:00 AM, with 64 lbs of laundry, and wanted the laundry to be done by 4:00 PM because she was going on vacation. 64 lbs of laundry takes up five washing machines and there was already a lot of people using the machines and a lot of jobs to take care of. The laundry job includes washing, drying, and folding, and this job can take 3 hours for one person. We did [redacted] a favor by putting her job before others. Our employees had to work on other people's jobs until 8:00 because we put [redacted]'s job before everyone else.

Downtown Cleaners has been open for 19 years. People like us and that is why we were able to stay open for this long. If there is a problem and it is clear that it was my fault, then I have no problem taking responsibility for it.

[redacted] came in with 64 lbs of laundry. This was a laundry job and not a dry cleaning job. Therefore, [redacted]'s job was measured lb by lb. Downtown Cleaners cannot be held responsible for missing clothing because there was no list stating what items were being sent for laundry. Furthermore, in regards to her claim about the ink/paint stain, I do not know if [redacted] left a pen in her laundry but if the ink stain was made during the laundry, other clothes would have been affected."
