On Friday, February 19, 2016, strong winds peeled my dormer roof up and the roof smashed over my chimney, breaking it in two places and moving it out of position.
After several calls, Mike Besch came to look at the roof on Monday, February 22nd. He stated " I have never seen anything like this" and that the roof was NOT covered under the 5 year warranty because " we had gale force winds, 70 mph". Roofs in our area are to be wind rated for 90 mph.
A blizzard was predicted for early Wednesday, February 24th and the dormer roof surface was totally exposed. Mike stated that he would "try" to help me out but that he had 35 calls ahead of me. EXISTING CUSTOMERS SHOULD COUNT FIRST.
After more calls, he sent two men out to pull the roof off of my chimney but informed me that he was "doing me a favor". After such rude and disrespectful treatment, I chose a reputable roofing company in my area to replace my chimney and roof. They found that the dormer roof was IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND ANCHORED. Besch used shingle nails instead of anchoring screws and no edge detailing was done, as per industry standards. That is why my roof peeled off. I have had to pay for all the damages myself.
I have filed a formal complaint with the building/code inspector, e-mailed Mike Besch AND sent a certified letter- all with no response. Poor workmanship and terrible customer service. HOMEOWNERS BEWARE!
I had my roof and siding replaced. I contacted the business several times. The roof was longer then previous design. The contractor came out to cap it after explaining it had to be that way. The siding was not installed properly. The flashing was visible. I asked about this and was told "its new and shiny and that's why you see it. " the other side of dormer was sealed with no visible flashing. They came out several times and refused to fix anything. The told me that was the standard. The first day of work they showed up at 630 am and I was not even told they were coming to start and was told we called. They didn't. There were certain requirements discussed that was not relayed to workers.When I called the company they tried to tell me to explain to the workers what was discussed. They had no intentions of correcting any issues. I would have been better going with a different contractor. I would not recommend this company.
