Downward Tree

Review: [redacted] was contracted to clear tornado damage done July 3rd on my property in Hartly. He quoted price of $1600.00 to remove large downed trees, debris and clean up the area. He showed up when he wanted, never when he said he would, worked approximately 30-40 hrs if that. He asked for 1/2 of the agreed price $800.00 as he needed it for his 3 children and the 4 who were his sister's (who was in rehab and wards of the State of Delaware)for food and school supplies. I gave him 1/2 as about 1/2 of the work was accomplished. Two days later he pleaded again on behalf of the 7 children in his charge that he really needed the remainder of the money NOW and swore he would complete the remaining 1/2 of the contracted work starting Mon August 18th. He failed to show on Mon Aug 18th, Tue Aug 19th. I reached him Tues afternoon and told him he needed to come & complete the work and he responded "I gave you a good price for that work and he promised to be here Thurs. I have repeatedly called, my daughter has called and my son has spoken to him to no avail. This man is a scam artist and fraud of the worst degree. AVOID THIS BUSINESS LIKE THE PLAGUE THAT IT IS! I have had to file a formal complaint with the AG, the Justice Department, and the Division of Fraud and Abuse of the Elderly. He OWES ME a 78 year old widow my $800 and an apology!Desired Settlement: My $800 Dollars for the uncompleted portion of the contracted job.
