doyles simply could not take off the bolt on the a/c clutch,so they put a new compressor on my car without me or my wifes permission, this act cost me 350 more dollars, thats what they owe me,its really as simple as that, thanks,[redacted]
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
In response to your letter on 9/6/2016, I will answer each of Mr. Doyle's responses. Yes he charged me for replacing the clutch coil. $594.17. Part-$111.80. Labor-$482.37. He had my van 3 days. No work was started until the 3rd day. Then it was done by a very polite and nice young man, not Mr. Doyle and his many years experience. Guessing it took a full 8 hours for the repair makes his repair rates very high. I consulted with [redacted] and was given a repair estimate of $350-375 total. Parts, labor, refrigerant, dye and oil. A difference of $44-$69. Another lie-I called Doyles on the 9th and was told to bring it in on the 11th. What Mr. Doyle does not know is the van is not driven everyday. I thought I smelled something burning but figured it quite possibly was the new part. I trusted Mr Doyle, had no reason at the time not to. Took it back to him, he told me it was the compressor. After I stopped by to check on it since he had not called me by the next day. Then he gave me the news and cost. Said he would charge me his at cost price, no labor or fluids charge. I was skeptical , but I wanted it fixed. $385.59 plus tax. Again [redacted] quoted a price of $324. I did call him after my daughter drove the van and said Mom, it is not cooling. Another three days without my vehicle. The fan assembly. I am the one who showed him the fan that pulls air in to the compressor was not working. Raised the hood and pointed it out. Mr. Thirty plus years experience did not find it. It was pointed out to me by a Certified Honda Technician. He suggested I take it back to Doyles and show it to him. I have proof. Doyle told me the fan assembly was fine and it needed only the plastic fan blade. Yes I went to the movies with my family, after stopping by his business again to pick up the van the next day. It was not ready but would be in an half an hour. I asked him to lock the key in the van floor, put my bill on the seat and I would pick it up later that night and put a check in the lock box. Went back by after movie and dinner. Hood was still up and van not ready. That is when he told me the whole fan assembly would have to be replaced. Over three times the cost of the blades. He said he called me. I showed him my phone. No received calls from him only numerous calls I had made to him to check on repairs. The ones on my phone were 8/12, 8/19, 2 calls on the 22, 4 calls on 8/23, 3 calls on the 8/24. I also made numerous calls to him for previous repairs but deleted them not knowing I would need to keep a record. My daughter who always brought me to pick up the van, asked him what number he called. He went into his office and came back citing my cell number. I showed him my phone. I had proof he did not call me. My phone was in my pocket the entire evening. My daughter was present at every occasion I went to his place of business. She heard all conversations. She is in the legal profession. She heard and gave input on all the occasions. Was I frustrated with this whole process, yes. Did I scream or yell? No. Did I curse him, no. Did I say I maybe should contact a lawyer? Yes. As a matter of fact, my daughter said to me, "Mom, you don't need to get an attorney". She is very honest, and can testify I was not offensive in any way to Mr Doyle. Yes, I was upset. Yes I am ugly, darn, I am almost 70 years old. I was not ugly to him. Yes I did ask for invoices because I knew I could verify parts costs. I, to this day do not know what his labor rate is. Having to justify and prove my complaints is not difficult. I have all the proof I need. I have a certified technician who will testify that he feels the fan was the problem from the start. Not the clutch. When I called Mr. Doyle to get an appointment, he told me he thought it was just a relay switch. Over a $1000. later, it was the fan I showed Mr. Doyle was not turning, was the problem that caused all following, costly repairs to be made. If he had checked the fan on day one, I would not be going through this process. No fan to blow air to the rest of the parts caused them to burn up or go bad. At this time, after reading the untruths stated in Mr. Doyle's reply I have decided to pursue this legally. I have contacted a lawyer. I will sue for a refund of all costs, and to ensure any further problems with the repairs he made be covered by him. As for the being able to go to another repair facility, what choice do I have? Per Mr. Doyle's written words, he wants no further dealings with me. I will seek damages, attorney's fees, legal costs and possibly defamation of character. What did he mean by ugly? Put yourself in my shoes. I am a retired lady who feels she was taken unfair advantage of by a local businessman. Thank you, [redacted] for trying to help.[redacted]cc: Personal file Attorney
iI [redacted] DOYLE WOULD LIKE TO DISPUTE THE WAY THIS TRANSACTION TOOK PLACE. MR [redacted] CAME TO ME AND I CHECKED HIS CAR TO MAKE SURE IT WAS THE CLUTCH THAT WAS BAD ON HIS CAR. IT WAS THE PROBLEM AND I INITIALLY GAVE HIM A PRICE TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH. MR [redacted] AT THIS POINT TOLD ME...
TO ORDER THE CLUTCH WHICH TOOK SEVERAL DAYS TO GET FROM THE DEALER. WHEN I ORDERED THE CLUTCH THEY SAID I HAD TO ORDER A NEW BOLT WITH THE CLUTCH SO I DID. WHEN WE WENT TO TAKE THE CENTER BOLT OUT OF THE CLUTCH WHICH HAD A VERY SHALLOW ALLEN HEAD BOLT ON IT WHICH WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT AND THE ALLEN HEAD STRIPPED BEFORE IT WOULD COME LOOSE. AT THIS POINT I CALLED MR [redacted] AND TOLD HIM THAT THE BOLT WOULD NOT COME LOOSE ON THE CLUTCH AND ASKED HIM TO COME BY SO I COULD SHOW HIM WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. HE REFUSED AND STARTED GETTING SMART WITH ME SAYING THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THIS BOLT LOOSE WHICH IN MOST CASES I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT WOULD COME OUT RELATIVELY EASY' THE BOLT HEAD WAS BASICALLY FLUSH WITH THE FRONT CLUTCH HUB AND GAVE ME NO WAY TO GET ANY TYPE OF TOOL TO GET IT LOOSE. I CALLED HIM BACK AND AGAIN ASKED HIM TO STOP BY AND HE REFUSED AGAIN. I TRIED SEVERAL METHODS TO GET THIS BOLT TO COME LOOSE BUT IT WOULD NOT. MR [redacted] SAID I BETTER GET IT LOOSE AND I TOLD HIM IT WOULD NOT COME LOOSE. I TOLD HIM IT WAS NOT MY CAR AND IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THE BOLT WAS SEIZED. HE SAID AS LONG AS IT WAS ON MY LOT IT WAS MY CAR AND MY PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM AT THIS POINT THE ONLY WAY I COULD SEE TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS TO PUT A NEW COMPRESSOR. ONCE AGAIN HE ACTED AS IF IT WAS MY CAR AND MY PROBLEM. SO 2 DAYS LATER HIS WIFE CALLS AND WANTS TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS GONNA TAKE TO FIX THE CAR. I TOLD HER IT WOULD NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR AND I FOUND ONE FROM THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER AT A BETTER PRICE THAN THE DEALERSHIP WANTED AND I WOULD GIVE THEM 20% OFF PARTS AND LABOR ON THE JOB. SHE SAID THAT SHE NEEDED THE CAR BY THAT FRIDAY AND WANTED TO KNOW IF IT COULD BE COMPLETED BY THEN. I TOLD HER YES AND SHE SAID FINE THEN. THE COMPRESSOR WAS EXPEDITED TO US AND ACTUALLY GOT HERE A DAY EARLY. I PUT THE COMPRESSOR ON THE CAR AND CHARGED THE A/C AND HAD IT FINISHED BY THAT THURSDAY EVENING. I CALLED MR [redacted] AND LEFT A MESSAGE THE CAR WAS DONE. I DID NOT HEAR FROM MR [redacted] UNTIL SOMEWHERE AROUND FRIDAY MID DAY. HE ASKED WHAT THE BILL WAS AND I TOLD HIM THE EXACT SAME PRICE I HAD QUOTED TO HIS WIFE. HE SAID HE WASN'T PAYING ME. I SAID YES YOU ARE OR YOU WONT GET THE CAR. HE SAID I NEVER TOLD YOU TO ORDER THE COMPRESSOR. I SAID NO YOU DIDN'T YOU HAD YOUR WIFE CALL AND SHE SAID TO. HE SAID SHE DID NOT AND AGAIN SAID HE WASN'T PAYING. HE THEN GOT OFF THE PHONE AND IN THE MEAN TIME I STARTED THINKING I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE A CHECK OR A CHARGE CARD FOR THIS SALE WITH THE WAY HE IS ACTING. HE THEN ONCE AGAIN SENDS HIS WIFE DOWN TO CHECK ON THE BILL AND SHE NOW SAYS SHE NEVER TOLD ME TO GET THE COMPRESSOR YET THEY BOTH MENTIONED THAT IT WAS EXPEDITED IN HERE. IF SHE DID NOT TELL ME TO ORDER IT HOW WOULD SHE KNOW IT WAS EXPEDITED IN HERE FROM CALIFORNIA. I TOLD HER THE TOTAL ON THE BILL AND I WOULD ONLY ACCEPT CASH. SHE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE A CHECK OR CHARGE CARD AND I SAID NO CASH ONLY. SHE THEN GOT A SMART ATTITUDE WITH ME AND SAID THAT WAS FINE BUT SHE WAS GONNA PAY ME IN 1 DOLLAR BILLS FOR THE REPAIR OF ALMOST 800.00 AND I SAID THAT'S FINE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO COUNT IT.AND THAT COULD TAKE A WHILE. SO SHE STOMPED OFF AND FINALLY CAME BACK WITH THE CASH. IT WAS NOT ALL IN 1 DOLLAR BILLS BUT IT WAS MOSTLY IN SMALL BILLS AS IN A FEW FIFTY'S AND A FEW TWENTIES BUT MOSTLY TENS , FIVES AND ONES. THE CHANGE AMOUNT WAS ALL IN PENNIES. I THOUGHT THIS WAS RATHER IMMATURE ON HER PART BUT I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT UNTIL SHE INSINUATED THAT I PROBABLY COULDN'T COUNT ANYWAY. RIGHT AFTER THIS SHE MISCOUNTS THE MONEY AND I HAD A WITNESS TO THIS AND ACTS LIKE A SMART --- ONCE AGAIN. NOW TAKE NOTE THAT I HAD GIVEN THEM A 20% DISCOUNT ON PARTS AND LABOR AND HAD NOT CHARGED THEM A DIME FOR THE NEARLY THREE HOURS I SPENT TRYING TO GET THIS BOLT OUT. ON THE NEW COMPRESSOR ON THE WORK BENCH NOT THE CAR I TOOK THIS SAME BOLT OUT OF THE NEW COMPRESSOR AND IT WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT AND HAD LOCTITE ON THE BOLT. I PUT THE NEW BOLT WITH A 10 MM HEAD THAT NISSAN SENT WITH THE CLUTCH ON THE NEW COMPRESSOR TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. THEN I TOLD THE BOY WHO WAS HELPING ME TO MOVE THE TRUCK SO SHE COULD GET HER CAR OUT. WHEN HE WALKED UP THERE TO MOVE THE TRUCK FOR HER SHE SAID THAT THEY HAD CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD THEM THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS BOLT SO THEY ALREADY KNEW THIS PRIOR TO ALL THEY COMPLAINING THEY WERE DOING YET CHOSE TO COMPLAIN ANYWAY. I THINK I WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND BY GIVING THEM THE 20# OFF PARTS AND LABOR AND NOT CHARGING THEM FOR THE OTHER NEARLY THREE HOURS I SPENT TRYING TO GET THIS BOLT LOOSE. I COULD HAVE CHARGED THEM FULL PRICE AND FOR THE THREE HOURS BUT I CHOSE NOT TO. I THINK I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN FAIR WITH MR [redacted] AND HIS WIFE AND THERE ACTIONS WERE VERY CHILDISH AND I WILL NOT BE GIVING MR [redacted] ANY MONEY BACK ON THIS MATTER. IT WAS INDEED HIS CAR WITH THE FROZEN BOLT. I DID NOT CAUSE THIS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.
MRS. [redacted] CAR WAS BROUGHT IN ON AUG. 1ST 2016 WITH THE COMPLAINT OF A/C NOT COOLING. NOT AUGUST THE 9TH 2016 AS SHE STATED. AT THAT TIME IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CLUTCH COIL ON HER 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN WAS BAD. THE PART WAS ORDERED FROM [redacted] AND WE RECEIVED THE...
PART ON AUGUST 2ND 2016. THE PART WAS INSTALLED AND THE INVOICE WAS PAID ON AUGUST 3RD 2016 AT A TOTAL PRICE OF $594.17. I DID NOT HEAR FROM MRS. [redacted] AGAIN UNTIL AUGUST THE 11TH 2016 AT WHICH TIME SHE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND SAID WAS NOT COOLING. I LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND THE COMPRESSOR WAS LOCKED UP. AT THIS TIME I LOOKED UP PRICES FROM MY SUPPLIER AND THE COMPRESSOR LISTED OUT AT $428.35. AT THIS POINT I TOLD MRS [redacted] THAT HER VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR. THE ORIGINAL PART WE PUT ON WAS A CLUTCH COIL THAT COST MRS. [redacted] $111.80 PLUS LABOR, OIL, DYE, AND REFRIGERANT FOR A TOTAL 0F $594.17 WHICH WAS DONE 8 DAYS PRIOR AND NOT ONCE BEFORE THE 11TH OF AUGUST 2016 DID MRS [redacted] SAY HER VEHICLE WAS NOT COOLING. AUGUST WAS PROBABLY THE HOTTEST MONTH OF THE YEAR AND I BELIEVE IF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COOLING AS MRS [redacted] STATES SINCE SHE PICKED IT UP I WOULD HAVE HEARD FROM HER BEFORE AUGUST THE 11TH 2016. ON AUGUST THE 11TH 2013I TOLD MRS. [redacted] SHE NEEDED A COMPRESSOR. IT LISTED FOR $428.35 AND I TOLD MRS. [redacted] I WOULD DISCOUNT THE COMPRESSOR $42.76 FOR A PRICE OF $385.59. I ALSO TOLD HER THERE WOULD BE NO LABOR CHARGES WHATSOEVER NOR WOULD I CHARGE HER FOR OIL, DYE OR REFRIGERANT. SO AT THIS POINT I HAD GIVEN MRS [redacted] BACK $42.76 BACK IN DISCOUNTS ON THE COMPRESSOR FROM THE PART SHE ORIGINALLY BOUGHT AT A COST OF $111.80. THIS DISCOUNT LEFT ME ACTUALLY LOOSING MONEY ON THE ORIGINAL PART I SOLD HER. WHICH BY ALL MEANS I AM QUITE SURE WORKED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS FOR THIS 8 DAY PERIOD AS IT WAS IN THE MID TO UPPER 90'S DURING MOST OF THOSE 8 DAYS SO I'M QUITE SURE IF IT DID NOT COOL I WOULD HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT. SO ON THE 11TH OF AUGUST 2016 I ORDERED A NEW COMPRESSOR FOR MRS. [redacted] VEHICLE AND IT WAS PICKED UP AND BILLED ON AUGUST 12TH 2016 AT THE DISCOUNTED PRICE I HAD QUOTED MRS. [redacted] ON THE COMPRESSOR PLUS SALES TAX. NO LABOR CHARGES WHATSOEVER OR CHARGES FOR REFRIGERANT, OIL, OR DYE. THE NEXT TIME I HEARD FROM MRS. [redacted] WAS ON AUGUST 22ND 2016 AT WHICH POINT SHE STATED THE VEHICLE COOLED GOOD WHEN IT WAS MOVING BUT NOT VERY WELL WHEN SHE STOPPED MOVING. I LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT ONE OF HER TWO FANS BY THE RADIATOR HAD THE BLADES JUST LAYING IN THE SHROUD NOT WORKING. THE BLADES HAD COME APART. I CHECKED THE FAN MOTOR ITSELF AND IT WORKED SO I TOLD HER WE WOULD NEED TO GET FAN BLADES AND ONCE AGAIN I AGREED TO PUT THIS PART ON AT NO LABOR CHARGES AT ALL TO HER. ONLY THE PRICE OF FAN BLADES WHICH WAS 71.45 FROM [redacted] PLUS SALES TAX. I ORDERED THE FAN BLADES WHICH I RECEIVED FROM [redacted] ON THE 23RD OF AUGUST 2016 AND INSTALLED THEM. WHILE RUNNING THE VEHICLE TO CHECK EVERYTHING OUT THE NEW SET OF FAN BLADES CAME APART JUST LIKE THE ONE I HAD JUST TAKEN OFF . THE CENTER PART OF BOTH SETS OF BLADES HAD COME APART THE EXACT SAME. THE NEW SET I HAD JUST PUT ON 30 MINUTES PRIOR HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE HAS 142,000 MILES ON IT SO THE ORIGINAL BLADES I ASSUMED HAD GONE BAD FROM JUST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FROM 142,000 MILES OF DRIVING AND THE FAN MOTOR WORKED AND WAS QUIET. BUT WHEN THE SECOND SET OF BLADES DID THE SAME THING WITHIN 30 MINUTES I KNEW THE MOTOR HAD TO BE GETTING VERY HOT TO MELT THEM. THAT SET MELTED IN 30 MINUTES TIME SO IT TENDS TO LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THE FIRST SET DID THE SAME THING. I DID TRY TO CALL MRS [redacted] WHO HAD EARLIER SAID SHE WAS GOING TO A MOVIE IN [redacted] I KNEW AT THIS POINT IT WAS GOING TO NEED THE COMPLETE FAN ASSY.. I COULD'T GET IN TOUCH WITH HER SO I KNEW SHE WOULD BE RETURNING LATER THAT EVENING EXPECTING HER VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT WE PUT THE COMPLETE FAN ASSY. ON HER VEHICLE AGAIN AT THE COST OF THE FAN ASSY. WHICH FROM MY SUPPLIER WAS 184.11. WHEN SHE ARRIVED I EXPLAINED TO HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND I HAD TO PUT THE WHOLE ASSY. ON. I WAS NOT CHARGING HER FOR THE FAN BLADES THAT HER VEHICLE HAD JUST BURNT UP THAT I HAD TO BUY FROM [redacted] NOR WAS I CHARGING HER FOR LABOR FOR PUTTING FAN BLADES ON FIST NOR LABOR WHEN I HAD TO PUT THE COMPLETE ASSY. IN HER VEHICLE. MRS [redacted] WAS BEING VERY UGLY AT THIS POINT ACTING AS IF I SHOULD PAY FOR ALL THE PARTS . I TOLD HER I WAS ALLREADY GOING TO TAKE A TOTAL LOSS ON THE FAN BLADES AND HAD BENT OVER BACKWORDS TO GET THINGS RESOLVED AND NOW FOR THE THIRD TIME WORKED ON HER VEHICLE WITHOUT CHARGING HER A SINGLE PENNY IN LABOR BUT I COULD NOT PAY FOR A FAN ASSY. THAT I HAD NOT ORIGINALLY SOLD HER AND WAS IN FACT THE ONE THAT CAME ON THE VEHICLE NEW 142,000 MILES AGO. SHE WAS STILL QUITE UGLY TO ME AND SHE LEFT THE VEHICLE AND WE PUT THE FAN ASSY. ON IT. SHE CAME IN THE FOLLOWING DAY AUGUST 24TH 2016 TO PICK UP HER VEHICLE . I TOLD HER HOW MUCH THE BILL WAS FOR THE FAN ASSY. ONLY PLUS TAX NO LABOR AT ALL. SHE WAS STILL QUITE UGLY TO ME. AT THIS POINT SHE REQUESTED THE INVOICES FOR ALL THE PARTS I PUT ON HER VEHICLE. I KNOW OF NO BUSINESS THAT GIVES THERE CUSTOMERS COPIES OF THERE INVOICES FROM THERE VENDORS. THEY GIVE THEM INVOICES FROM WHERE THE CUSTOMER PAYS THERE BILL WHICH I HAD ALREADY GIVEN MRS [redacted] FROM BEFORE AND WAS GOING TO GIVE HER ONCE AGAIN ONCE SHE PAID ME. BUT NO MRS [redacted] WANTED COPIES OF MY INVOICES FROM MY VENDORS. AT THIS POINT I HAD HAD QUITE ENOUGH OF HER BEING RUDE AND UGLY TO ME SO I DID TELL HER SHE DID NOT OWE ME A DIME AND THAT IF SHE HAD THAT MUCH DISTRUST OF ME AFTER ALL THAT I HAD DONE FREE OF CHARGE TO TRY TO MAKE HER SATISFIED THAT I WOULD RATHER HER NOT PAY ME. I ALSO TOLD HER THAT AFTER ALL OF THIS I WOULD RATHER JUST NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HER AGAIN. AT NO POINT DID I TELL MRS [redacted] I WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND MY WORK I HAD ALREADY DONE. I JUST PLAINLY STATED THAT I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE ANY OTHER FUTURE DEALINGS WITH HER. WARRANTY STANDS AND I NEVER TOLD HER IT DIDN'T BUT IF THERE IS TO BE ANY WARRANTY CLAIMS IT WILL BE THROUGH ME SO THAT I KNOW THERE IS AN ACTUAL PROBLEM NOT BY THE PERSON OF HER CHOICE AS SHE STATES SHE WANTS. I THINK I HAVE ALREADY WENT WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR THIS LADY AND HER COMPLAINTS HAVE NO MERIT AT ALL
Very unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment approximately two weeks in advance. I made arrangements to be off work and for my mother to drive down (approx. 35 minute drive) and pick me up at Doyle's at 8:00 a.m. She was planning to take me back that afternoon to pick up my vehicle. When I arrived at 8:00 a.m. there was a note on the door that said, "Closed Thursday and Friday and possibly Monday." After sitting in the parking lot for 20 minutes we decided that it was "definitely Monday." I understand that emergencies come up but I expect to be notified. I'm in the phone book so there was no excuse not to contact me. This was very unprofessional and I doubt that I will ever return to this business.
Review: My 2009 altima with 49000 miles needed a a/c compressor clutch and the dealer [redacted] could not fix for a week so I took it to doyles and they said they could fix in a few days,I got a call after a few days from [redacted] the owner and he said he could not complete the repair because he could not get the bolt that holds the a/c clutch off,he mangled the bolt,he told me it was my bolt and my problem,he ordered a whole compressor and put it on without my permission, the compressor and labor cost me 800$ and the dealers price to repair the a/c clutch with labor was 450,I feel doyles owes me 350$ since they could not complete the a/c clutch repair properly,I tried to resolve with the owner but he was abusive and non compromising,I should have waited on the nissan dealer to repair,I will never get doyles auto cool to fix anything of mine in the future!Desired Settlement: doyles owes me 350.00,that is the resolution

I took my 2004 Honda Accord to Doyle's Auto Cool in June of 2014. After 4 visits and about $1,700 in (supposedly) new parts the air conditioning was finally repaired.....I thought. My air quit working again this fall. I would not take my vehicle back there nor would I recommend them to anyone.
