D&P Multimedia Reviews (2)

Review: There are multiple problems throughout my dealings with this company, and I don't want to run on with every minute detail. I'll start at the beginning and try to cover what I feel is most important. I hired D&P Multimedia in/around February 2011 for my July 2012 wedding. When I contracted with them, I was told that I could choose my photographer out of their pool. Fast forward to around January 2012, and when I contacted D&P Multimedia, I was told by [redacted] that I no longer had that option and that he was my photographer because he was the only one left. You should also know that all along my wedding planning process, anytime I tried to contact [redacted], there was either no response, or I had to repeatedly email him with the same question and eventually, with delay, he would respond. I did not get the opportunity to even meet with him until a few weeks before our wedding.

The real problem started after the wedding. Originally I was told I would have my package, including my wedding video, by six months after the wedding. There were multiple issues. I will state that there was some delay on my end, because of the fact that I was told "the editor is great at editing and selecting the perfect music for your video!" and ended up having to research and spend time trying to find my own music in the end. This did take me a while. Once I had my music selected, I contacted [redacted], and never heard from him. I repeatedly emailed him and finally had responses. After these responses, it was delay after delay after delay, with excuse after excuse of why my products weren't ready. I no longer live in the area where he does, so my parents went to pick up my package for me (after all the excuses and delays.) The DVDs of my wedding video were riddled with errors -- black screens, music not matching up to things, and multiple other errors, especially the wrong person standing at the end of the aisle at the opening of the ceremony section -- NOT MY HUSBAND! It was one of the groomsmen before the ceremony started, which quite frankly, was offensive to me. It made D&P look like they didn't even know who the groom was. The quality of the DVD was also horrible, looking like it was from the '90s, not 2012.

I never received my proof book even (until mid June) which should have been given to me a few weeks after the wedding. My print package was not received until this time also. And when I did receive my prints, [redacted] ordered the wrong ones. I have spent so many countless hours arguing with him through email about all of these errors.

The worst and most unsettling complaint I have is the quality of his "professionalism," thus my claim of misrepresentation. I would say there are 2 out of 16 photos of my dad walking me down the aisle that are not blurry, and that is even giving him more credit than I believe he deserves. These photos are blurry, and so are a lot of our mother/son and father/daughter dance, our first married dance, and pictures with my husband's parent's heirloom Just Married sign. All of these photos are blurry, which is unacceptable. I hired a professional, or who I thought was such. These are moments I cannot relive and take new pictures of. I am saddened to look at those moments of my wedding day, because they are not the quality that I expected. I love photos, and I love to scrapbook and share my love for the photos and the memories of those moments with friends and family. I look at those photos and want to cry because on of the most important moments of my life, my dad walking me down the aisle, are blurry. Those are photos I should cherish, not be saddened by. When I confronted [redacted], he claimed that there were 2 blurry photos out of all of those named. I have shown these photos to many family members, friends, and other photographers who agree with me that they are clearly blurry, some of these instances without my even asking if they thought so. [redacted] never apologized to me or admitted his mistakes. He, however, somewhat blamed me that my expectations were too high and that he knew in his gut that he wasn't the photographer for me. Why, as a professional, would he not just tell me that maybe I should keep looking. I would rather him be honest, versus what I now have to look back on with these pictures.

I told him multiple times that I needed the rest of my stuff by the 12th of July, 2013. At that point, I still needed the corrected print package, and the corrected DVDs, along with my photo book. Our anniversary was the 14th. My husband and I spent our anniversary in Jamaica, so I wanted to bring the DVDs with us so we could start the tradition of watching our wedding video and looking back on the photos then. Before we left, there still was nothing delivered to us. When we returned, we finally received the rest of our package.

Now here is the problem, the photo album was a charge of $165 due to extra pages. I do not feel that I should have to pay this. After all the frustration and dissatisfaction with the end products of what I received, and having paid him around $5,000 in full ahead of our wedding, I do not feel like I should have to pay for this. If I received a professional service from him, i.e., no blurry photos, no errors in DVDs and photo packages, and received my package within the year, and an apology and acknowledgements of his mistakes and blurry/bad quality photos and video, I would not have any problem paying this invoice. However, I don't feel like I owe him another penny after what I received.

Thank you for your consideration from this photo-saddened bride, her husband, and her family.Desired Settlement: All that being said, I have heard multiple times through multiple people that D&P is no longer in business, so I highly doubt that I will get any type of refund, even though I feel it is due. We paid approximately 5,000 to D&P for their services. I signed a contract for a professional photographer and videographer, and I do not feel that I was given that. Their services were completely unprofessional, and thus, I was misrepresented when I paid them. I received blurry photos, mistake after mistake and excuse after excuse on delivery of a simple proof book, and not even an apology on his services. After waiting over a year for a quality of products that I am extremely dissatisfied with, I do not feel I owe him the $165 for the photo book, and I would like him to stop contacting me about it. Not having my complete package by our 1-year anniversary alone should violate his agreement.

Business

Response:

[redacted] and [redacted] were already compensated with a Blu-Ray upgrade($399 Retail) plus we upgraded her album to one of almost twice the retail value. She agreed to pay for extra pages and cover stamping. That charge was $165. If she doesn't pay it that is her decision. [redacted] gave me problems before I even performed any services. I did everything she contracted me for and more. I have been in business for 20 years and am still in business.

I can honestly count all my unsatisfied customers on one hand so I guess you just can't please everyone. I am sorry she is unhappy but I have done all I can do. I consider this matter closed.
