I am rejecting this response because: there is no resolution. I am a nurse, and have worked in settings where a patient was referred for a concern that was not found on exam. The insurance is billed appropriately and the patient is not left with 100% of their bill.It is bad business to send a patient to collections who the office is aware is disputing a claim with their insurance carrier.

I have read the complaint, and thoroughly reviewed the records. Response: 1. As a pediatric ophthalmologist, I take great pride in performing a complete examination. I then explain my findings with the parents, and dictate a full report to the primary care pediatrician. The complaint includes...

NOTHING to dispute that the services rendered were anything but standard of care. 2. The patient was lucky enough to have a normal examination. Unfortunately, when I do not have a medical diagnosis, some insurance carriers refuse to pay for the visit. I think the patient’s family and I agree 100% that this is crazy! If I perform an examination on a baby who is referred from the pediatrician, the insurance carrier should cover it. It should not matter whether I find a problem or not! However, if I perform a full examination, and spend time with the family, I believe I should be paid for my time and expertise. THE REALITY IS THAT THE FAMILY SHOULD HAVE SUBMITTED THE COMPLAINT TO THE Revdex.com ABOUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY’S POOR COVERAGE, AS THERE WAS NO COMPLAINT WITH THE ACTUAL CARE! 3. If the insurance does not cover the service, the bill is the family’s responsibility. When a patient (or patient’s family) does not pay their bill (after several requests), they are sent to collections. This is the same as any other business/provider. I do not understand why this warrants a complaint to the Revdex.com. I did my professional best to provide care, and the complaint is about their not paying their bill. The patient’s mother is a nurse, and she should understand these issues. Yet she called and asked me to bill for ‘something’ as a medical diagnosis. I will not commit medical insurance fraud because a patient has poor coverage. I would be happy to expand on my comments, and answer any questions to the satisfaction of the Revdex.com.
