Review: About two weeks ago, I accidentally dropped my laptop on the floor and brought it to Dr.Brendan, a small Mac repair store at [redacted], to repair it. They promised that they wouldn't charge us if they couldn't fix it. They took out the hard drive and wrapped up by a case so that we can still access the data from other computers when they were repairing the laptop.
After a few days, they showed us the fixed laptop, and assembled the hard drive. It seemed to function well but the Mac system turned on very slowly. We didn't notice that at first, since we are not experts, and paid the repair fee 60 dollars. After we went back home, the mac system failed completely and couldn't even open. So we brought it back to Dr.Brendan and they said the Mac start up system was damaged and would cost more if they reinstalled the system. We argued that they should do it for free according to their promise, but they instead said the laptop was good while we checked it at the store and they actually did nothing but tightening some loose connections in the laptop, which could not impair the system.
We thought their pricing was ridiculous and brought it to apple store some day later. The Apple store concluded that, instead of Mac system failure, the hard drive disfunction was the real cause. Then I went to Dr. Brendan again and they checked that it was truly the hard drive failure. This was totally a different story from what they told us at the first place. However, they refused, again, to repair it for free, stating that we held the hard drive ourselves during their repairing and we should be responsible. Indeed we did hold the hard drive, but it was completely functional all the time before it was assembled at the store. In addition, repairing the hard drive, i.e data recovery, is very costly.
I was [redacted] and wanted to file a complaint about it, because they were obviously trying to put us off with some [redacted] excuses that essentially contradicted.Desired Settlement: Repair my laptop of course with the data intactly handed to me
