Review: Data from eye exam entered wrong by office staff power on the left eye being much too strong. Glasses broke after 2 months. Failed to rectify.

Dr. [redacted] gave me an eye exam in December of 2011. His information on the prescription was transposed and entered wrong in their system. It was supposed to be 1.25 on the left eye and they entered 1.75. The result was that the glasses were made with the wrong prescription. The glasses ended up breaking about 2 months later. I went back and told them about the issues. The owner raised his voice in front of his customers and told me it was my fault for choosing that type of glasses. I spoke to Dr. [redacted] regarding the eye exam issue. Dr [redacted] recognized the mistake and told me to go to other optometrists where I had other glasses made with same prescription and that they would correct the issue. He did not take fault. He said it was an honest mistake and went about his business. I feel this establishment is taking advantage of low income individuals that cannot defend themselves because when I was there, there were others with similar issues and their immediate response to them was sorry we can't help you, this is not covered, which is pretty much what they told me. I feel they are not practicing fair business in our community. Desired Settlement: They owe my the money that I spent when I purchased the first pair of glasses and lenses from them. My insurance paid about $125 and I paid a little over that out of pocket. I am only seeking that which I paid out of pocket.

Business' Initial Response

Hello, My name is [redacted] Office Manager. We are responding to a complaint from Mr. [redacted].

Mr. [redacted] called our office because he said in Dec 2011 he purchased a pair of glasses and one lens was not right. I [redacted] was speaking with Mr. [redacted] and informed him we can see him for a recheck with Dr. I made appointment for him.

Mr. [redacted] came in yes one lens was not right Staff inputted it wrong in computer Dr. gave him new RX for one lens. Mr. [redacted] then informed Dr. somewhere else made the glasses Dr said it its a problem and they dont remake it let us know.

Mr. [redacted] called office said yes the other office will remake the lens. But now he wants us to make him a new pair of glasses because the one lens was wrong then he said we said him a cheap frame because it broke his glasses was purchased with is insurance his out of pocket was $26.40 here is a copy of his bill. Mr. [redacted] became very rude threatening to call Revdex.com putting bad information on all search engines Not very nice Mr. [redacted] did not give us the opportunity to help solve his problem Just a lot of threats

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Originally I contacted Dr. C's office about the frame that broke soon after the purchase from normal use. The owner told me that it was my fault for picking out that particular frame and this he said with a loud voice in front of his staff and attending clients.

My insurance at the time covered up to $125, on top of that amount I paid another $130 dollars out of pocket which to my understanding included the co-pay.

According Ms. [redacted] I threatened with calling the Revdex.com. I did tell her that was what I was going to do which I did do. I believe the Revdex.com is there for people like myself that have exhausted their attempts with the business owners to try and find a reasonable solution. If the office manager of Dr. C felt threatened at my saying I was going to call the Revdex.com then they must of felt a bit of guilt and fear of being discovered of some wrong doing. I simply did what I told them I was going to do after they were rude to me and not help me. The other office where I had glasses made with their bad prescription were also surprised that Dr. C was not willing to take care of the issue there at his office and had me running around trying to find a solution myself for their mistake. The other offices fixed my glasses out of courtesy and at the same time they felt it was not fair they had to take a hit for the repair when it was an obvious mistake of Dr. C optometry.

Review: I had my eyes examined and the Dark skinned man that works there promised me a new pair of glasses and I received a used pair for $260!

I had my eyes examined August 21 2013 and picked out a pair of glasses that I wanted. I specifically asked if I was going to receive the used display pair or a new pair because the display pair was stuck on the left arm and was told if I wanted an ordered pair I would have to wait 10 days for a new pair. I was totally fine with that and told them I was willing to wait. I received a phone call today August 28th that my glasses were ready to pick up. I went in and the man was rude when I asked him if I could examine the glasses before I payed the balance of $36 because I wanted to make sure they weren't the pair that were broken. He did not let me until I gave him cash. I was in a hurry on my way to work and left. When I had a chance to look a the glasses there was a scratch in the same place as the display pair and the left arm was so loose now it doesn't stand up on its own. This place is a joke!!!!! The dark skinned man is rude and disrespectful and does not know customer service!Desired Settlement: Replacement and an apology that I did not receive what I was promised!

Initial Business Response

This is a reply to the complaint letter that we received In regards to [redacted]. Please note that we are including a copy of the invoice for the Harley Davidson frame. This order was placed 10 minutes after the patient left our office and was ordered for us to receive it 2nd day' air so the patient wouldn't have to wait too long. When the patient came in to pick up her glasses we assured her that it was in fact a new frame. We gave her the glasses she put them on and we asked her how they felt, and she stated at the time that they felt fine, so there was no adjustments needed. She seemed very happy and satisfied with the glasses, she even complemented the Harley Davidson case that came with them, and after that she left our office. If the patient needs further adjustments on her glasses have her to feel free to drop in to our office and one of our staff will be happy to assist her in any way we can. Sorry for this misunderstanding we are thinking that the patient was not aware of fast express services. If there Is any other questions

please feel free to contact us.
