Sierra is not perfect, but I believe they are the best I did have to appeal an ER claim once, and during the process I was able to speak directly to the person who would decide the outcome How often does that happen? I won the appeal
The pharmacy side of Sierra is OptumRX *** is part of *** *** ***, as is Sierra Because of this I feel that *** has a vested interest in treating patients This is reflected in their very broad formulary I have to take an expensive specialty drug to treat my RA It is in a class that totals only 5, each is slightly different thoughMany RA patients lose response after awhile but by switching can regain control of this horrible disease*** has all on their formulary now, & for 2017! I've not seen another pharmacy benefit manager that allows this

I am a healthy 48 yo woman. I have my two healthy children 11 and 13 yo also covered on my plan. Last January I received new insurance cards in the mail. I called Sierra to ask why. They said my plan had been changed to a similar priced plan. The deductible however, had increased from 1500$ per member to 5500$ per member. They said they had called and sent letters informing me. (I did not get a single one.) I asked how this could be done without my permission. They said they had LOTS of similar complaints. My coworkers (same company but different plans - I am on individual plan) experienced the same. I am at the orthopedic surgeon getting orthotics for my soccer playing son. Front desk says my deductible is $10,000. Sounds like Sierra is taking us all for a ride!!! Lots of profit and taking from the healthy working people. Interestingly I did get a letter last week from Sierra saying open enrollment is in October and I can change plans. Absolute Croooooks! Audit them please!!!!!!!!
