Review: I made an appointment with my dermatologist for an injection in my pimple, like I have been doing for the years I go to her. Now all of a sudden I am given a bill for $ 157.38. When I asked to see the bill I see a charge for acne surgery. I said I am confused I never had acne surgery what is this charge for and they told me it was for squeezing my pimple. I am like excuse me, the doctor has been squeezing my pimples for the 3+ years I have been coming here why would it all of a sudden be called acne surgery. I was told that I was being disrespectful by questioning the charge and if I didn't like it I could go someplace else. I left the office in tearsDesired Settlement: I want this charged removed because it is a fraudulent charge. If you have performed the same procedure on me for years with out this charge how in the world did you decide on July **, 2013 it is now called surgery. I saw the doctor twice in July and twice in August for injections and they were considered acne surgery so why is it on July [redacted] its called surgery. Not to mention no one discussed a surgery with me, the results of this so called surgery or if my insurance ever covered this surgery. I want the charge removed because it is false.

Unfortunately, some patients use avenues such as the Revdex.com and online review sites in an attempt to bully physicians into committing health insurance fraud when they don't want to pay their bills. I would advise this person to educate herself about her insurance plan. As she states, she is confused. This does not mean that we did anything wrong. Before false and defamatory allegations are made of insurance fraud, which is a crime, she might want to educate herself about what a deductible is and what acne surgery is. Health insurance is a contract between the health insurance company, the patient and the physician. All parties have legal and fiduciary responsibilities--including the patients. If a doctor fails to bill for copays, co-insurance, deductibles, etc and bills the insurance company, this is considered health insurance fraud. A patient's failure to pay what they owe also violates the contract. Unfort unately, when bills come around some patients attempt to intimidate the doctor into committing a crime with threats of reports and negative reviews rather than educating themselves and honoring the contract.

I went to see Dr. S[redacted] sometime in July when I was in NY for the summer concerning an abnormality that occurred in my skin. By the time I was able to schedule an appointment, the infection or whatever it was had dried up so there was nothing much she could do, which was somewhat understandable. She actually recommended bleaching cream for me to apply to the area. I don't know if I'm the only one that finds this ridiculous- for a professional to recommend bleaching cream when that is a detrimental product. She prescribed this cream- epiceram- and I asked if it would make my skin go back to its original complexion and she said yes. The cream just helps with dry skin and hasn't done anything for me, to be honest. Total waste of my money visiting her office just for her to recommend bleaching cream and a cream for dry skin for a skin condition she didn't even know about.
