Dr. D's Garage Doors Reviews (2)

Review: Dr D. installed an [redacted] Garage Door for me. He told me he would have to take some of my ceiling tile down. I agreed. He brings the door in starts installing it. Comes up stairs tell me to come down the the garage said the door won't fit. I need to take out a few inches of the first 3 beams. Said remember I am a house inspector. I wouldn't do damage to your home. Well I let him do it . He comes here late at night to do the work. Then he comes back up stairs and says you have really nice boards from where they took the ceiling down. He said to save you money I can use these to finishes up the wood work and save you money. Well he had to run over to his place of business . I went down to check there was a gap big enough to stick my hand through all around the door and the weather strip wasn't even against the door. When he came back. He said well you were the one who said I could use that wood. I said only if it worked. I knew I had to pay for the new wood. So he said well it is going to cost you another $[redacted] . I said what. Those new boards surely won't cost that much. He said well there is labor. I said listen you were the one said my boards were good to use. He said take or leave it. What was I suppose to do. Well there was a large gap at the bottom of the door . He said it was because of my crocked house. Which was probably right. So I ordered ( on my own) a rubber attachment to put on the door. He said give him a call and he would come over and help put it on. I called he never returned my call. I thought it was strange he never called to install a garage door opener. Well this week some one recommend some one to come and see if it was possible to install an opener for me. It was [redacted] Door. He said you have a door way to big for you opening. He said it should have been a 6 ft 3 in. instead of the 6 ft 6 in. this guy installed. I wondered why I could see light at the top. he laughed and said because your door is 3 inches is too big. He said there is no way a door opener could ever be installed. He said the only way is to take out the bottom panel and reaplace it with an 18 in and replace the tracks. He said the panel would be over $400 alone. I am furious with this Dr D. So I tried to call him and as usually no answer. So I decided I would just leave a message and tell him I was contacting the Revdex.com. Well I hung up the phone. And the phone rung. It was him. He said you wanted that door so bad you said I could do anything to make it work. I said well you should have did your measurements right and you should have got a 6ft 3 in door. He said well why didn't you get this guy beside [redacted] dose not make that size. He had me so upset I said you can deal with the Revdex.com. This guy took advantage of me. My husband is 85 years old. Has a rare brain desease. Is at the end of his life . Is on a feeding tube can not talk ,walk . Is bed ridden . I am a 24 hr care giver. The next step is hospice. We had the old typed garage door where opened to the outside. Do to this bad weather . The ground froze infront of the door and rose the cement up. My car was trapped inside the garage for 5 week. Now I am stuck with a door that was too big for the opening and will never be able to get an opener unless I spend with labor upwards of a $[redacted] and that is before I could get an opener. I feel this Dr D. should at least repay me the extra $[redacted] he made me pay .Desired Settlement: Dr D charged me over $[redacted] including the extra $[redacted] for changing the old boards which was his suggestion to use. I knew I had to buy them. I can't figure out why I new I had to buy them and he showed here late at night . Worked till after 11 oclock for 2 days in a row and didn't have the boards. And it took weeks to come back with the boards and he just bought the boards the day he came back here to redo the job. The [redacted] door guy said he over charged me $[redacted] more then what they would have charged. There is no way I can get this job redone and will never be able to get a door opener. We are on fixed income and I feel this guy should have known this door would not work and he took advantage of our situation with not being able to get our car out of the garage. He should have to at least give us back that $[redacted] . Probably nothing will ever get done about this. He should have said anderson dose not make this size door and said sorry I can't do the job.
