Dr. Energy Saver of South Texas Reviews (5)

Dr. Energy Saver of South Texas by STX Efficiency Experts owned by John B[redacted] performed unsatisfactory work on our home in November 2015. The scope of the work consisted of installing retrofit energy efficient canned recessed lighting upgrades, duct sealing, and air sealing. The purpose of the work was to eliminate attic insulation dust from entering the living space inside our home. The total cost we paid for the unsatisfactory work was $7,837.50. The work was not performed in a professional manner by the assigned crew. Our home was used as a training facility for a new supervisor (two weeks experience) and new crew members. John B[redacted] was not present at all times to provide guidance to his employees. One of the “experienced” crew members stepped through the ceiling over the two story foyer of our home necessitating dry wall repair, texturing, and painting. The foyer ceiling repair work was not completed to our satisfaction by John B[redacted]’ personnel. The painter John B[redacted] had attempting to repair the ceiling was working with a bad diabetic foot on a 20-ft ladder all day and made us anxious since we did not want any injuries. The monetary reimbursement agreed upon before repair work for the damage to the foyer ceiling was started was not honored by John B[redacted]. Numerous attempts to contact John B[redacted] to recover the total cost of the ceiling repair work that we were forced to have done by a third party have not been answered. The only way the ceiling can be repaired to original condition is to have all texture removed and new texture applied throughout the foyer and connecting hallway. We believe that work needs to be done and we are due the cost of performing the work. The attic sealing work above the master bedroom and master bathroom was not completed and the cost to seal that attic space should have been deducted from the amount we paid for the total cost of the job. The upstairs closet access to this attic area was not discovered until the work was underway. However, we believe the cost of sealing this area was included in the original price quoted. John B[redacted] was argumentative and disrespectful to members of our family during the process of the job as we attempted to clarify work plans. He also promised pictures and videos of the work performed, both of which were never received. John B[redacted] indicated that the corporate Dr. Energy Saver office would furnish a video of the work performed; however, the corporate Dr. Energy Saver office denies ever offering the service of providing videos. Further, the corporate Dr. Energy Saver office indicates John B[redacted] and STX Efficiency Experts are no longer affiliated with or recommended by Dr. Energy Saver even though John B[redacted] continues to advertise his company is affiliated with Dr. Energy Saver. We are continuing to experience attic insulation dust inside our home, indicating that the work performed by Dr. Energy Saver of South Texas by STX Efficiency Experts was not successful in eliminating our original reason for contacting this company. We have made numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact John B[redacted] to receive the agreed upon total refund for damaging our foyer ceiling and reimbursement for not completing the attic sealing work above our master bed and bath rooms. We strongly recommend that Dr. Energy Saver of South Texas by STX Efficiency Experts owned by John B[redacted] not be contracted for work.

So I see that [redacted] made no mention of a set of foam that I bought prior to this, and the issue is that I had to return the tanks because there was an issue and the product was bad. I waited and waited and just figured that they would let me know when they had my foam, that I paid for and did...

not get to use, not to mention that I lost money on the job due to having to run across town do leave the tanks back at Coastal Chemical, get more, and to this day, [redacted] nor [redacted] have ever reimbursed me.  What happen with what they are complaining on is that I was out of town and had someone running my business, they used a company check to get foam, for a totally different job from I filled in above, and the check bounced. I was not even aware of this up until the first of this year, the employees were stealing and nearly ruined everything. I told [redacted] the same story and that I would pay as soon as I could and I asked about the foam I was owed, if we could take that off the price owed, and she grew angry with me and said the Dow rep should have given me another one, but the Dow rep is the first person I called when the above foam was returned to Coastal and the Dow rep is the one who told me that Coastal was responsible. I am not saying that the is who were working for me wrote a bad check, because they did, but I did tell her I would pay when I could. I even offered to make a couple of credit card payments and she no.  Please read my reviews on our website, I have no bearing when someone fills out a testimonial or review, they speak for themselves.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Regarding Mr. [redacted]’ 1st paragraph reference to a set of foam he returned because it was bad, whenwe last spoke 3-4 months ago, I told him I would have to talk to [redacted] (our product technical specialist)as I was not sure what had been determined. I did not get angry as he stated in the 2nd paragraph, butdid ask if he had advised the Dow representative, and I further told him that was a separate issue fromthis most recent foam purchase that was paid for with a bad check. After discussing the questionable foam with [redacted], he advised when he checked out the foam kit, it wasworking fine. He said he called Mr. [redacted] at the time, but could not reach him and had to leave amessage for him to call. He never received a callback.Regarding the foam purchased with the bad check, Mr. [redacted] was immediately advised of the checkreturn upon our notification by the bank (November 5, 2014). He said he would take care of it.During that last conversation 3-4 months ago, Mr. [redacted] did tell me about his business problems, and Itold him I was sympathetic, however, we had our own problems to deal with, but still had to pay ourbills. He did offer to pay part of it on a credit card and then more later, and I stated I had filed the badcheck with the court and was advised not to accept partial payments, so unfortunately this was not anoption. He said he would get something figured out and call me back. I have never heard back from himand made several attempts to reach him. I had held off filing a complaint with Revdex.com until now.I have also read the reviews on his website, and find it all very disturbing. I feel his customers andpotential customers should be aware of how he handles his business obligations. Perhaps I will submitmy own review and let it speak for itself. It will be interesting to see if it shows up.Meanwhile, all we are asking for is for this check to be made good.Sincerely,[redacted]Coastal DistributionComplaint # [redacted]
