Dr. Fix-It Reviews (2)

June 4, 2015Dear [redacted],Dr. Fix-It is in receipt of your correspondence regarding the complaint ID# [redacted]. When first received, it was thought a joke! While no one at Dr. Fix-It has ever met [redacted], we have spent lots of time on the phone with her and conversing about...

her while analyzing her situation. To give you some background, [redacted] called Dr. Fix-It to have someone to come out to her home to look at the porch roof that was in need of repair. She said that she worked from 2 am until 7pm at Temple but needed the estimate done as quickly as possible. She wanted the repairs made so she could get a new [redacted] from [redacted] TV. [redacted] TV would not install the new [redacted] because her porch roof was desperately in need of repair. She wanted to schedule the free estimate on a weekend but Dr. Fix-It was booked for the next few weeks on the weekend. She was informed that there was a crew working in her area that week and that Dr. Fix-It could send someone to look at her porch roof while they were in the neighborhood. She told me that would be fine, even though she would be at work, because they did not need entry to her home. She was promised a courtesy call when they were on the way so that her neighbors would not be concerned that workers were at her house when she was not. The call was made when they arrived at [redacted] in the early afternoon and she was thankful for both the timeliness of our response and the call. The only equipment that came off the truck was the ladder so that the top of the porch roof could be viewed. The drain pipe (a make-shift piece of piping) is not connected correctly, and the frame as well as the overhang are rotting from age and water damage.
[redacted] was called two days later and given the estimate of $1,300 for the repair of her porch roof. She said she could not afford to pay that much money, that she was a single mother and had a child on the way to college. She said she had bought the house five years previously and was working hard to repair some of the major issues slowly but surely. [redacted] said that [redacted] TV caused some of the problems because they installed the other [redacted] incorrectly but now that the damage was done, they would not install another [redacted] until she got the roof fixed. She asked if Dr. Fix-It could finance the repairs. She was told that we did not finance but that she could put the cost of repairs on a credit card.
Before the call ended, she gave me a list of the other jobs she wanted us to perform for her and suggested that she was going to call [redacted] TV back to encourage them to pay for the repairs to her porch roof so that she could get the new [redacted] as soon as possible. The conversation also included discussions about alternative cable service providers, but she decided to stay with [redacted] TV.Dr. Fix-It was invited, by [redacted], to her home to look at the porch roof. Dr. Fix-It did NOT cause damage to [redacted]'s porch roof. Dr. Fix-It did NOT chip at the porch roof. According to [redacted], the damage was caused by years of neglect, water damage due to a faulty drain pipe and by the improper installation of a satellite [redacted] by [redacted] TV.
[redacted] has not contacted Dr. Fix-It since she called to request an estimate. The last time we spoke was when she was called and given an estimate. She has not called again! Needless to say Dr. Fix-It was SHOCKED to receive the letter from the Revdex.com accusing Dr. Fix-It of causing damage to [redacted]'s home, and insinuating that we have been negligent by not returning calls. How does one return a call that was never made or received?
After working with the public for decades, one has a tendency to think they have seen and heard it all. Surprise! It is unfortunate that [redacted] purchased a home that is need of so many repairs. It is unfortunate that [redacted] does not have the funds to make the repairs she needs. She does not, however, have the right to try to “force” Dr. Fix-It to make repairs on her home (through lies, deceit, and slander) when the damage is not our fault or our responsibility.
Sincerely,Vanessa
