Review: 8/25/14 Sir/MadameOn or about January 11th, I had undergone an examination by Dr. Glen Gmyrek at his office at [redacted]. On arrival I gave staff my insurance information and filled out typical doctor forms. Examination went fine, blood was drawn for testing, and a prescription for medication was given to me. No follow up appointment was made.Shortly thereafter I received a bill for over $1000 from [redacted] for blood work with Dr. Gmyreks name on it. I did not understand why I was getting this bill, because I have Lab coverage on my insurance, however it is with [redacted]. It is clearly represented on the insurance card that the office staff took a copy of. My wife at the time called the Dr.s office and spoke with someone who said they would look into it. Several phone calls later and more bills in the mail, the office manager said she would take care of it with [redacted].Now I am getting collections notices for the same issue. The amount is now $331. We called the Dr.s office again. We are being told that [redacted] somehow got paid some portion of the original bill from my insurance company, and that the $331 is my copay. However I have never had to pay a copay for lab work before.Dr. Gmryeks office simply did not send my blood sample to the right lab or did not give me the opportunity to go to [redacted] myself to get the blood work done, which would have been my choice had I had any idea I would be charged for blood work. Furthermore no one from the office at the time informed me that they would only send my blood sample to [redacted], and that I would have to pay for the testing. My company pays over $1000 per month for my health insurance, why would I choose to have my blood work done by a company that would charge me for it. I am already covered for blood work through [redacted]. This is an error on the part of Dr.s office and I refuse to pay for something that I already pay for through health insurance premiums.Desired Settlement: I would like ether. The doctors office or [redacted] to pay the bill to the collection company, which is now effecting my credit . I would like for the office of the above me motioned doctor to claim responsibility for this bill since they should have notified me prior to sending my blood to be tested to a company that wasn't covered by my. Insurance. I am not responsible for this bill not will I pay it.
