Dr. Gregory F. Mattioli, DDS Reviews (1)

Review: I visited this dentist on March 10, 2015 because I had an issue that prevented me from being able to eat and I was leaving on vacation the following morning. I was told I needed a bridge and I had a deductible of $200. I informed the office worker [redacted] that my insurance does not require me to pay any deductibles. [redacted] said that I would not be able to continue with my appointment until I paid the $200 deductible. I felt I had little choice and gave her my credit card with permission to charge $200 that I felt I could dispute later.Three weeks later I received my credit card statement and saw that the dentist office charged $2,000 to my card instead of $200. I immediately called the office several times and left messages, which were not returned. I went to the office that same afternoon and spoke with [redacted]. She told me the cost of the bridge is $4,000, $2,000 that was due at the time of service and $2,000 when the work was to be completed. I was getting nowhere with [redacted] so I asked to speak with Dr. [redacted]. I explained what happened, explained I have insurance and he was upset with [redacted] asking why she didnt get pre-authorization for the treatment. Dr. [redacted] told me [redacted] made a mistake, it would be resolved and that my money would be refunded. He also stated that as long as he receives at least $1,500 from the insurance company he would be satisfied.I spoke with my dental insurance carrier and was assured the procedure was covered and there is not deductible. The insurance company mailed a check in the amount of $2,308 on May 28, 2015 to Dr. [redacted]. Since he is an in-network provider that is the allowance that he agrees to accept for that service. I was then told by the insurance company that the $2,000 needed to be returned to me and that he did not have the right to charge me for anything. For three months I have made numerous attempts both by phone and in person to get my money back. And all I get are excuses and run around. As of today he informed me that he had prepared a five unit bridge and the insurance company would only pay for a four unit bridge so there is a difference of $577 that he will deduct from the $2,000 he owes me. Since I was told hed be happy with $1,500, there is no basis for this sudden turn other than he just doesnt want to give me my money back. The fact is the bridge is not even working properly.Desired Settlement: I want my $2,000 that I should never have been charged in the first place.
