Review: When we contracted with Dr. Yim's office, we had informed them that we had an opportunity to move within the upcoming two years and asked if there would be any problems if we relocated during the time my child was being seen for braces. After 18 months, we were indeed relocated and have had nothing but issues with billing since. We tried working with the overturning office staff to get the bill straightened out and could never get anyone to help or get us anywhere other than paying the entire amount on the contract in full. We drove five hours to get my daughter de-banded, after making sure over the phone that there would be no issues, and they refused since we had not paid the contract in full...although my daughter had only been seen 10 times total. They refused to refer our remaining contract out and ballooned the payment so that we did not have a partial amount due (which had been promised during the initial contract discussion AND over the phone). When we originally started dealing with the office, there was a great office staff, which within the year that we dealt with them, turned over twice, which became extremely frustrating when having to explain the billing issues every time a new person came onto the staff. Now, every 3-4 months I get another "Pay In Full Now Or Else" statement that even states they took my daughter's braces off, when in fact I had to pay another office to do so because they blatantly refused to do. Not only would they not work with me on the amount that should have been due per the pro-ration of the contract as promised, once it came down to ME figuring out the prorated price, they ballooned their office visits to make my portion due to them MORE than the contracted price, and they refused to take off my daughter's braces and told me she would have to keep them on until I could pay the remainder of the contracted price. They informed me several times that I was right on my calculations, then would call me back to inform me that the entire contracted amount was due.

I would like for the remainder of the contracted price that is due to be dropped by the office as I have paid for the visits that my daughter had been seen. As well, I would like the "Pay In Full Or Else" collection notices to stop being sent and to not be sent to collections at all.

In response to the complaint filed, please find the following:

The notes in our Financial Chart indicate that their account was greater than 90 days past due, and we were promised half the amount in arrears prior to appliance removal. When the patient arrived for her debanding, they had not fulfilled their promise. We asked the patient to return with the funds, and we would remove the appliances.The transfer out amount was in the file and given to the Patient and her family.

The transfer out amount was $570.91 which is still owed to date. I have no knowledge of this "balloon payment" that was indicated in the original complaint. And our records indicate nothing of this nature.

We received a call from Western Dental in Fresno for records, and when we called back, we were informed that our Patient was already debanded. Again, I apologize for this unpleasant experience.

I did however, unknowingly send out a letter on June 24, 2013 stating they owed the entire $2,213.72. The letter should have stated $570.91.

There is still an outstanding "transfer out" amount owed for $570.91.
