Review: Saw Dr James Martin, he told me he was a medical doctor, an expert in autoimmune diseases. He speaks really fast, has you fill out a questionnaire with hundreds of questions before seeing him. Says he has very limited space for any more patients. Had me sign some paperwork that I couldn't even read, didn't have my reading glasses. He told me it was just standard paperwork giving him permission to be my doctor. His staff had taken my drivers license and credit card for "verification purposes only". He didn't do any exam, no blood work, and charged me $4627 that I didn't know until the next day when checking my statement. This was suppose to be a free consultation. I contacted him and he said it was a mistake. That he would correct it. After a week of calling every day, I went to his office. He told me that I was harassing him with phone calls. That he would get me my money, but that he is broke because he is getting divorced because he found out his wife took all his money and is a "METH HEAD". After seeing online that he has done this to other people, that he is not even a real medical doctor. I have contacted the District Attorneys office and the Credit Card company.Desired Settlement: I WANT MY $4627 BACK .....NOW!!!

Review: I went into Dr. James Martin's office for help w/my sore back. I agreed to sign up for his program on a Thursday, and an appointment was set for me to return on Monday. I paid his for services in full $6,627.00, and on my office visit on Monday I changed my mind. I have requested my money back in full and he is not paying me back. He will not return my phone calls, certified mail, and is NOT responding to my request at all.Desired Settlement: I would like to be paid back in full, due to the fact Dr. Martin has done ZERO work on my body!

Review: Dr. James Martin at Chronic Health Solutions uses unconscionable contract practices and high pressure sales techniques.

I took my daughter to Dr. James Martin for a free consultation on 5-14-13. We drove almost 2 hrs. and then waited 3 hours in the waiting room before meeting Dr. Martin at which time we were tired and hungry. We found Dr. Martin to be an extremely fast talker and a person who would ask a question and then answer it for you. His assessment of my daughter included a very brief scanning of several pages of questions we completed while he made comments like 'he only takes the right kind of patients', which in turn created an atmosphere where we felt like we hoped to be chosen. Dr. Martin performed several 'neurological' tests on my daughter and then told me he was sure her thyroid was a mess and her responses to his exam were the same as a 50 year old lady. (When I came home I performed the same test on several other people and got the same results as my daughter (something smells fishy here.) He said he didn't even need to have her tested at a lab before he could prescribe a treatment plan for her. He said things such as "I have room for just two more patients", "I only accept patients I like", "people come from as far as Brazil to see me", "I am the only doctor who offers this service and I think I can fix you", "you want to help your daughter, right?"... Once he started talking about a treatment plan he stated he used to only provide services to the very wealthy and at their cost, my daughters plan would cost me $24,000. But now he does not need money and does his work as a service to the community as he has retired at a young age. Next, he pulled up documents on his computer very quickly throwing numbers at us and asking us to do the math in our heads. There were lots of comments made like how lucky we were that his fees were so much lower than they used to be and my daughter will at least be able to still go to college.

During our visit with the doctor, the office staff opened the door to the doctor's office 4(four) times, interrupting us, to tell him he had patients waiting. We were VERY RUSHED to make a decision and sign up for no interest financing. I agreed to the financing thinking that charges would not occur until services were begun the following week. I was afraid to lose an opportunity to help my child so I agreed to their terms. The cost for my daughters plan was $5545.00, monthly payments of $307.00. The office staff quickly rushed us through an online financing program and I was told I qualified for financing. I did not realize they intended to charge the full amount to financing right then and there before services had even begun. Before my daughter had even had any lab work done to determine her treatment.

I feel I agreed to this financing under direst for my daughter and due to the high pressure sales tactics. We do not want to BEGIN services with Dr. Martin and Chronic Health Solutions as I am suspicious and believe I have fallen for a scam. I believe they took advantage of my desire to help my daughter and they manipulated me into making an agreement that I would never make in my right mind. I believe it is no mistake that we had to wait 3 hours to see the doctor and that was the beginning of their resolve to wear me down. We have not returned to the office since our 'free' consultation.

I feel that because I have made the decision not to begin care, PRIOR to any services being rendered, and within 24 hours of our appointment, I should be granted a release from the contract.

On 5/15/13 I faxed a letter to Enhance Patient Financing requesting that they cancel the pending payment to Dr. Martin on my behave.

On 5/17/13 I sent a certified letter to both Dr. Martin and Enhance Patient Financing requesting cancellation of contract and financing.

On 5/22/13 I received a phone message from Kristen Martin, Dr. Martin's wife and office manager. She stated she received my letter and that my amount of $5545.00 is completely nonrefundable regardless of wither or not we begin treatment. Desired Settlement: Release from contract and full refund or cancelation of financing.

Included Documents:

* PMA Membership Agreement (Signed by Patient)

[redacted]End of letter[redacted]

It is true that while at Chronic Health Solutions I signed up as a member of the Pastoral Medical Association at their direction. They told me this was required before the doctor could even talk to me because of the nature of homeopathic medicine and the need to avoid the regulations of the regular medicine bureaucracies. Little did I know that I was signing away my rights.

Assuming this information they are stating is correct, at this time it appears I must retract my complaint.

In regards to the money, I was successful dealing with the finance company. When I explained that CHS charged in full for services that had not even begun, they agreed they could not charge me. The finance company released me from the charges and they are dealing with getting money back from the doctor.

Review: I was billed over $3000 for services that I have never received, turned into collections, and all this after a free consultation.

I saw Dr. [redacted] a few months ago at his office for a free consultation after seeing his add on tv for thyroid treatment. When I saw he represented himself as an endocrinologist, he took me into his office, did a series of tests, when he diagnosed me with chronic thyroid condition, and looked me straight in the face and said my brain was dying. Then told me he could treat me, but he only excepts a few patients at a time so he then scammed me into signing up as a patient as I was under distress at the time because I believed I had been properly diagnosed by licensed Dr. in medicine, which was false, he seems to be only a chiroprator. I found this out the next day and told him I would not be doing his treatments, which he refused to even explain what the treatments were. I have called, wrote letters, and the front office girls will not let me speak to him, they just want there money, even when no services have been rendered. I now have a collection company after me for fees nearing $4000 for thyroid treatments and brain functioning that I never received and do not even need. I'm sorry I ever fell for this scam as it has ruined my credit and my health is even worse after seeing him because of all the stress I have been under for this matter. Desired Settlement: I want the $3,256.00 this chronic health solutions has charged me refunded completely, as I have only seen them for a free consultation, and have received nothing more, this is fraudulent business practices.

Review: Major Complaint regarding Dr [redacted]. After seeing him on Sac and Co, advertising as thyroid, diabetes specialist, my husband and I went to see Dr. [redacted] Sept 16,2013 for a free consultation, with high hopes he could help me with my thyroid condition Graves Disease, which I've had for 30yrs. I am 48 years old now. We did not know at the time he was only licensed as a Chiropractor, and not a licensed thyroid specialist. At the appointment Dr [redacted] assured my husband and me that he could help me at a cost of $7,300 for 6 months of treatment. We were pressured to sign a contract for treatment that day because he stated that he treats only a few patients at time. We didn't have the cash to pay so Dr [redacted]s wife contacted a finance company for a loan which we were approved for. Dr [redacted] received all moneys up front. I was prescribed a strict diet and multiple supplements that I had to pay for myself. He told me not to take my thyroid medication anymore. About 6wks into treatment I got very sick, facial swelling, salty taste in mouth, ringing ears, etc. Dr [redacted] took me off all supplements and told me to take 100,000iu of vitamin A and 800iu vitamin E, telling me that it would help repair lining in my "gut". I contacted my primary physician at my own expense to update her about my condition, and had blood tests taken. Test findings were that my liver was being destroyed and my thyroid levels were "off the chart", sever hypothyroidism. Had I listened to Dr [redacted] to take high doses of vitamins, my liver would've failed. Dr [redacted] refused to confer with my primary physician, saying in his words, "Don't listen to them because they don't don't understand whats going on with me". Since then he hasn't returned any of my calls or emails, therefor breaking his side of the contract. Now I'm in worse health than I was before I saw Dr [redacted] and am stuck with a $7,300 loan, he put my family and I in debt, and caused mental and emotional stress for me and my family, and extreme anxiety.Desired Settlement: After talking to the loan company, they advised us to insist Dr [redacted] credit loan back since treatment was never completed. In my opinion he's a fraud and scamming ppl out of large sums of money by falsely advertising himself. He preys on ppl who are desperate for help, and demands fees up front. When he does his initial consults, he tells all his patients the same thing. I will be sending the Revdex.com and other documentation to validate this complaint. Hopefully, Dr [redacted] will be stopped!!!!!!!!!

Review: I was charged $6,000 for services NOT received while our contract was pending negotiation and credit approval. Late afternoon, Dec. 4, 2013, I attended a "FREE" group consultation from "Dr. James J. Martin, D.PSc." who advertises on TV that he has the ability to provide pain management for those suffering from endocrine disorders (i.e. Thyroid disease). Because James J. Martin operates under a "PMA" (Pastoral Medical Association), he isn't governed by a Medical Board. I decided to sign up for Treatment Plan 3 listed at $7,345 (pending an interest free credit application). I was told that I would receive a phone call the next morning with the amount of credit that I was approved for so that we could complete the contract paperwork and schedule my next appointment. I didn't receive a follow up call until 12/9/13. At that time, I was advised that I was only approved for $6,000 credit line (a REAL blessing in disguise). I asked to change the Treatment Plan to option 2, listed at $5,346. I was told that the revised contract was going to be mailed to me. I never received it, nor did I EVER sign a credit card charge slip. On 12/21/13, I received a lab order for blood work. It's dated 12/18/13 (a full 7 business days AFTER I spoke with the office coordinator - who happens to be James Martin's sister-in-law). I never had the lab work done. Upon requesting a refund/cancellation of contract negotiations on 1/15/14 (he was on vacation for 3+/- wks), I was told by "Dr. Martin" via email that I was "confused" and that since my contract was never changed, I was liable for the $6,000 that was billed to my new credit card on 12/10/13. He said that was "to help me out". He claims that you pay everything up front and that services are considered all rendered that first night of 12/4/13 and then supposedly, any future visits/treatments are "FREE". There is no accountability that you'll receive any additional services/visits. Very unprofessional and SHADY!Desired Settlement: I have submitted a formal dispute to the credit card company that "Dr. Martin" uses, Enhance Credit Card/First Electronic Bank. I am requesting a full credit/refund in the amount of $6,000. If the credit card company doesn't settle the dispute accordingly, I will begin small claims court actions. I will NOT allow myself to be a victim to a SCAM!

Review: High pressured/strong armed sales tactics; Preying upon client health concerns/fears; Utilizing local media to add an air of authenticity to practice

I have been riddled with health issues related to Celiac Disease and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis for almost as long as I can remember. After learning about Dr. [redacted] on the local television show "Sac & Co", I hoped that he might be the answer to my problems. After my high pressured no-holds-barred initial consultation with him on December 19, 2012, I was, in my opinion, immediately strong-armed into signing a contract in which I prepaid him $5346.00 for 28 "treatments"(which he said everyone ends up doing because it's such a tremendous savings). He preyed upon my health concerns and fears like he was playing a Stradivarius. In my opinion, he proceeded to convince me that if I had not come to him, my situation would have quickly become even more dire. That I would have dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease within 20 years. He fed me lots of nicely wrapped words quickly proceeded by very scary words - keeping me on an emotional roller coaster. He finished by telling me that I was among a very select few that he has chosen to work with.

The treatments did not help me. Actually, my health declined significantly - something he actually admitted to on my last visit - telling me he was going to have to go in a whole other direction.

In my opinion, this man is not qualified for the "treatments" he is providing. Upon investigating, I found that he is not a graduate of the institute for which his practice appears to be based. I believe this means he is NOT certified for the treatments he is providing. And, he has several other complaints filed against him.

Additionally, once he has snagged you and "treated" you a few times, he quickly makes himself scarce and attempts to have one of his office staff give the treatments, so he can, in my opinion, try to scam future clients (what was I waiting an hour and a half for each time if an office worker could provide my care? And, why did I have to pay so much for his "specialized" training if anybody could do the treatments?)

At this point I realized my treatment was not, and never would help me recover my health. I have tried to reason with Dr. Martin and calmly explain my situation and dissatisfaction with his services and requested a refund since he was unable to determine the proper "treatment" for me and I no longer trusted him.

Now, I am significantly in debt and in worse health than I was six months prior. I sincerely hope that this prevents other vulnerable individuals from falling prey to what, I believe, are false promises of significantly improved health - at a very high cost. These people are already suffering. They don't need to suffer in their pocketbooks as well.Desired Settlement: Because he misrepresented himself, his business, his credentials, his ability to treat and the ultimate outcome of his "treatments", I feel I am due a full refund of the amount I paid in advance. If nothing else, I seek to warn other potential consumers of my experience.
