We are in receipt of a complaint filed with your office May 18, [redacted] , an independent doctor of optometry, operated LensCrafters Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who is an independent practitioner who is responsible for their own practiceSince [redacted] is not an employee of LensCrafters, we cannot compel the doctor to provide specific resolution However, we have taken the liberty of forwarding Mr [redacted] ’s concerns to their attention Should Mr [redacted] need further assistance; [redacted] can be contacted at [redacted] Thank you for contacting Luxottica Retail

To whom it may concern: The message addresses the complaint # [redacted] initiated by [redacted] The aforementioned patient requested an eye examination at our Ross Park office Both the optical staff and doctors office staff indicated to the patient his/her insurance was a "discount plan" through Aetna and there would be a fee for the service payable at the conclusion of the examination The couple agreed to the fee, filled out the appropriate paperwork and proceeded to the intermediate eye examination It is my impression that since the insurance plan did not pay for glasses, again a discount only, the couple felt the examination unnecessary and saw little/no value in routine eye care It is the patient's responsibility to understand his/her insurance and pay any fees/copays due at the time of service It is unfortunate the [redacted] s had a less than excellent experience at our place of business We always strive for exemplary service and appreciate the feedback from your organization

In my experience any business which accepts insurance always collects copayments/deductible before providing any service to the insurance holder. Both the Staff never said anything about the fees till we were done with our eye exam. In fact if you look at my original complaint I have mentioned the same. We were coaxed into an eye exam in order to avail free sunglasses. In the end I was told that my plan does not cover the sunglasses as also. So I basically walked out empty handed minus $85 some dollars. I think it is unethical of them to now say that I was informed about the payments before hand. I DO NOT ACCEPT THE STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF JESSE MANTEL.

Review: I had a very bad experience in the Lenscrafters store in ROSS PARK MALL in Pittsburgh , I wanted to check if my Insurance would pay for a pair of sunglasses ,I told them I had Aetna insurance .The Manager there even without looking at my insurance card said 'Oh , yeah you are covered but you would need to take a eye exam which is also covered .So like anyone else I thought whats the harm in taking an eye exam( I never needed one in my life) if that could get me a pair of free sunglasses. So My wife and I provide them with my insurance information they run the insurance information through their system but still do not say anything about my coverage .After we are done with the test the lady at the counter say $84 for both of you , I said I thought its covered .She says no yours is a discount plan, I paid the money and tried to reason with the store manager but they were very indifferent to my loss and kept saying that I should know my benefits. It Just seems like a scam to me ,with every one at the store involved.
