I'm not satisfied and want to pursue the matter further with the Revdex.comVery little of DrThottam's message is accurate and he continues to prove he understands little about billingHe states "Even though we would like to adjust this amount to limit further conversation in this matter, we are not legally allowed to write off patient deductibles and copayments." There is no such lawThink about it, there are millions of dollars of patient deductibles and copays written off every day! Therefore, DrThottam is able to do what he would like to do which is to adjust what, he asserts, I owe to zeroI assure you and DrThottam that is legal and is done hundreds of times a day in Canton, OhioI'm willing to discuss this at length if necessaryWhat he is mixed up about or trying to improperly apply is a law stating health care professionals can't write off deductibles and copays without billing the patientHe has compliedAgain, almost nothing in DrThottam's message is even close to being correctHe states "The claim was submitted timely to his insurance carrier, *** *** plan, however, we did not receive any payments or explanation of benefits for several months till December of 2015, in spite of repeated attempts." I've attached a copy of my *** explanation of benefits (EOB) from February and it's for claim runs between 2/4/and 2/11/This is just a few weeks after my surgeryThis has a *** *** * ***In December DrThottam submitted another claim for the same surgery which was claim * ***I've attached this claim as wellHis extremely poor billing procedures are just a comedy of errorsI envision him claiming he never received that EOB which *** processed in February 2015, but just to prove that he did receive that *** EOB in February take a look at my statement from his office which I've attachedIt shows my balance for the 1/22/surgery as $The February *** EOB shows the amount allowed for the 1/22/surgery as $If you subtract the $I prepaid from the $*** February EOB the balance is $So, he did receive that EOB from *** in February as the December *** FOB, produced after DrThottam billed for the same procedure a second time, shows a completely different amount allowedHis own billing statements prove what he told the Revdex.com is not correctI assure you I was told my total cost would be $when I was evaluated on 12/15/I had the same insurance on 1/22/as I had on 12/15/Now let's discuss the balance DrThottam is trying to say I owe himThe balance has two componentsFor the 12/15/pre-surgery evaluation DrThottam says I owe $For the 1/22/surgery DrThottam states I owe $I received no invoice or statement from DrThottam for either visit until January Imagine that! Someone tells you months after one visit and twelve months after the second visit that you owe them moneyCome again! Yes, no invoice or statement in December 2014, January 2015, February 2015, March 2015, April 2015, May 2015, June 2015, July 2015, August 2015, September 2015, October 2015, November 2015, or December Then suddenly in January "hello you owe us money." Even though we told you $was your TOTAL cost, we billed *** in December and January and received EOB's but we never billed you because we knew we told you $was your totalThen we thought we have a problem because the law says we must bill this guy for his deductibles and copays, so we better do itThen the guy isn't happy, so we will immediately threaten to send him to collection and ruin his credit because we screwed this up so many ways it isn't funnyBy the way, back to the pre-surgery evaluation visit; I have attached two EOB's, the first from 12/30/for claim * *** and for the same service a second claim * *** on an FOB dated 1/7/Yes, that's two claims for the same service once againOnce again *** denied the second claim as a duplicateI should probably get *** involved in this because I know for a fact a *** covered patient must be billed within one year of service and DrThottam certainly didn't bill me within a year for the balance they want to claim I owe from 12/15/The first statement from DrThottam, which is attached, was dated 12/29/and received by me well into January Does anyone really believe I owe DrThottam anything?

After reviewing this matter we have decided to write off the balance that the patient owes our office in the amount of $Although we have documentation that the patient does indeed owe this amount to our office we are adjusting his current balance as a curtsey to him so this matter can be resolved.We have mailed out an itemed statement to the patient reflecting he has a zero balance with our office.Thank You,Thottam Plastic Surgery Center

This patient had a procedure in my office on He paid $as an estimated prepayment, since he had a large deductible to meet.He was never told that this amount will be his total feeThe claim was submitted timely to his insurance carrier, *** *** plan, however, we did not receive

After adjustments were made, since he had a high deductible, a balance of $remained, which was billed to him, as required by insurance contractThe patient is refusing to pay this amount.
