Dr. Josef B. Bieber

Review: I went to Dr. Bieber to have four wisdom teeth removed in order to prevent future dental problems . The week before I had the surgery, my mom and I went for a consultation in which we asked for a pre-estimate. Based on this, the administrator or secreatary told us that our responsibility was $318.0 in addition to x-rays but not to exceed $60.00. The $318 was to be paid on the day of the surgery . I then was asked to sign some patient agreement forms in front of the secreatary and gave them back with the belief that thare was no deception or attempt to hide any wrongdoing. On the day of the surgery, my mom and I gave the girl the amount we were told that we owed in full or the $318.00. Some time after the surgery, I received another bill for $504.50 for which I called to ask if they had submitted the bill to the Insurance. The girl whom I spoke to said that the insurance had paid but the amount we paid originally was only 20% of the entire bill and not the amount we were told that we owed as our responsibility. The 20% was never discussed at any time and had we been aware of this, I would have never gone through the surgery since I could not have been able to afford this. This fact was deliverately omitted but was in the agreement that I hastily signed. When my parents went to discuss this huge discrepancy, the staff was very defensive and rude and told my parents that I had signed an agreement for which they then gave my parents a copy. I'm in college and could not go with my parents to argue this bill in person but in order to prevent any credit problems I paid $104. We do not believe that that they are owed any additional monies and dont know how to expose them except to let your agency investigate a deception that not only I but others are victims of by this dishonest doctor and staff. I would like this doctor be included in the watch list if any of doctors with a bad reputation.
