Dr. Michael D. Schloss, Inc.

My mother needed a new pair of eye glasses, which I agreed to buy her as a gift. She visited Dr. Schloss's optical store within his office to order glasses. She gave Dr. Schloss her current prescription, selected a frame, and ordered the glasses. The total bill was just over $500 (receipts can be provided upon request). I paid half of the balance as a deposit and paid the other half upon my mother picking up the new glasses. She wore the new glasses for a few days and struggled with them. She visited her normal opthamologist (Dr. Schloss is an Optometrist) to have the glasses looked at. Her Opthamolgist confirmed that the prescription was made to spec, but also stated that the frames were not deep enough to comfortably accomodate a bi-focal. My morther then returned to Dr. Schloss who returned the original frames, helped her to select a new frame, and also performed a refraction to make sure that he ordered the most current prescription. The new glasses arrived and when my mother tried them on she stated her vision was distorted and felt off balance. Dr. Schloss then became beligerent and nasty while not offering any solution. My mother ultimately left the frames and lenses with Dr. Schloss, as she was very upset. I called Dr. Schloss to discuss the matter and see how we could resolved it. He immediately became anxious and accused my mother of being "crazy" and stating that there was no way to make her happy. He gave us the following choices:1. Take the first pair.2. Take the second pair.3. Get a full refund on the frames but pay his cost on the lenses.It was very evident that Dr. Schloss did not want to work with my mother, so I asked him for a 100% refund. I expressed to him that there were two options...100% happiness or 100% refund. I know other opticians, and they claim that the lense mfg's are quite lenient on vendors who regularly order from them. I believe that Dr. Schloss can refund me 100% and not lose money.
