This Dentist is billing our Insurance OVER the amount that they are contracted to accept for IN-NETWORK services. The amount that they are OVER their contracted price (they got 100% of their contracted price) is what they are saying we owe them. ** This is the basic definition of Balance Billing **. While this practice is not illegal, IT IS UNETHICAL and my Insurance Carrier is in the process of reviewing the complaint I lodged against Modern Dental Health on 5/22/15.Modern Dental Health is stating we owe a balance of $153 that is 60+ days past due. I feel like this is an extortion attempt that threatens our good credit standing (because if we dont pay it, they report it as an unpaid debt and/or then it goes to Collections, which then further harms your credit rating).I was appalled by my 3 interactions with [redacted]. (5/22/15 & twice on 5/28/15). Her snappy, matter-of-fact attitude & condescending tone left me wondering why she works in a place where she is supposed to be helping people. ** was beyond rude and just plain awful every time I have tried to resolve THEIR BILLING ERROR with her even hanging up on me during my first conversation with her. Never once did she offer me ANY assistance in clearing the issue up except to insist we pay the bill. [redacted] even snapped at me and said they would NOT transfer our records to another Dentist without paying the $153 first which is in direct opposition to NRS 629.061. I will not subject myself to her treatment again, so I am now leaving reviews and making written complaints.Product_Or_Service: Initial Office Exam & X-RaysDesired SettlementAn apology for how I was treated by [redacted] on 3 separate occasions regarding this billing issue.ALSOThey have already created a record of this bill - I want proof IN MY HAND of it showing as paid or expunged from their records of us so that we won't have any more surprise issues down the road.ANDThat they provide a full copy of mine & my husbands records to our new Dentist (TBD), upon request & FREE OF CHARGE. This change is a direct result of their billing issue.Business Response As a courtesy to all of our guests, we bill their insurance for the treatment done in our office. Unfortunately one of our previous employees had not paid close enough attention to the PPO fee adjustment which left a remaining balance that was billed to the patient in error. At no time was the patient at risk for being sent to collections by our office over this, but we couldn't disregard the balance on the account until the EOB was verified. After the patient brought this to my ([redacted]'s) attention, I requested a copy of the EOB from her insurance company which was received on 6/5/15. As soon as I realized the PPO adjustment was indeed overlooked, I adjusted the account which now shows a zero balance. I mailed the patient a statement showing the correction, and apologized for the oversight on our part.
