Review: The first time I went to [redacted] I asked her about [redacted]. She said I didin't need [redacted] all I needed was a retainer and she could help me with that. She never talked cost. During the whole visit all she talked about was that she loved having Apple Employees as Clients. She doesn't event charge the team a co-pay. But now I know why-because she upcharging on all the services she provides.

When I got my retainer she didn't even give me a case and I never went back for adjustments.

One of my co-workers ([redacted] called her to state his mother works at a dental office. He told her he knows she overcharged for his retainer and if she didn't take if off his insurance, he would report her.

It also seems that [redacted] recommended this treatment for several employees in my office.

How can the retainer cost $4000 when the [redacted] cost $6000? My current dentist told me she over charged me for the retainer. I would like someone to investigate this situation as I would like my money back for this intentional and egregious malpractice.Desired Settlement: I would like her to accurately charge me for Removable Appliance Therapy (retainer)

Response:

[redacted] was referred to our office and seen MULTIPLE times in 2012 for dental services. During these visits she seemed to be very happy, informed and satisfied with the services received. In July of 2012 Upper and Lower Retainers were made for this patient. During the specific visit [redacted] is referring to, [redacted] was discussed in extreme lengths including necessity, her current dental hygiene, her specific bite, dental work already completed in her mouth, future dental work needed, what the process was for [redacted] and rates for different procedures among other factors that would effect her decision. This specific visit lasted well over 1 hour. At the time based on all factors discussed, the patient opted to not complete [redacted] partly due to the cost. The patient understood and decided to have retainers made to keep her teeth from shifting further. She understood doing this procedure would use her Orthodontic benefits and prevent her from having future Orthodontic work from being covered this was specifically discussed and she understood. She was also informed that she must wear these retainers every night to prevent teeth to shift, which would be an issue with her then specific dental situation. If she fails to we ar them her teeth would continue to shift and further Orthodontic services would be needed. She understood and agreed to the treatment recommended. Upper and lower arch retainers were made per the patients request and they were given to her with a case. She tried them in at the office and left happy. We are not sure if she lost the specific case, if so we have extra cases she is welcome to get another case. The specific Orthodontic retainers [redacted] had made in our office are $2000 per arch. This patients insurance plan has paid $1,473.00 toward her services. Her remaining balance remaining is $2,527.00 Due to [redacted]'s specific financial hardship she discussed with [redacted], she was not sent a bill for the balance remaining after her insurance payment which is technically her responsibility and dictated by the specific dental plan she is contracted with. [redacted] knew she would not be billed for the remainder and was very appreciative. She has also received documentation from her insurance stating what was completed and her responsibility when the services were rendered. As discussed, retainers were made and there was no further discussion about the retainers from the patient until now 2015, three years later. We have attempted to reach out to [redacted] multiple times in 2013 and 2014 to follow up with her for routine dental visits which she has not responded to. We have treated [redacted] with nothing but respect, appreciation and kindness. We are very happy to hear [redacted] has found a dentist she likes and we wish her the best. If [redacted] would like to be "accurately charged for her retainers", that can definitely be arranged. Her balance is $2,517.00 However, we can honor the previous arrangement discussed and not bill her as discussed due to her specific situation.
