Dr. Shawn C. Wilker

I went to Dr. Wilker on 9/13/12 for my annual routine eye exam. This was my first visit to this doctor. Previously, I visited a doctor in an area where I used to live. I changed this year to visit a doctor much closer to where I now live. I have Eyemed coverage for annual routine exams. At the time that I made the appointment and again when I arrived for the appointment I double-checked with them to make sure they took Eyemed. They copied my card information and I had the exam. Instead of sending the claim for the annual routine eye exam to Eyemed, they went into other hospital records and pulled up my medical insurance information and filed te claim with Cigna. I believe this was in order to get a higher payout from Cigna than he would get with Eyemed. Because of he filed the claim with Cigna instead of Eyemed, I was billed $323.00. With Eyemed, there would be no charge to me for the annual routine eye exam.
