Dr. Walt Vogl, D.D.S. Reviews (1)

Dr. Vogl's mistake left the [redacted] facing ~$3000 in dental expenses to right his work. Dr. Vogl turned [redacted] over to collections & inflated bill.
We were patients of Dr. Walt Vogl, who placed this account under your management, for approximately a year when Dr. Vogl determined Mrs. [redacted] would need a root canal, filling replacement, & minor oral surgery, all performed in-office with Dr. Vogl. We proceeded to receive estimates and schedule the recommended procedures; however, the evening after Dr. Vogl's work was completed, [redacted] found herself in extreme pain, and her condition only continued to get worse.  By the next morning, the stitches, sutured too tightly through her lip, had burst through the tissues and opened, and by the end of the week, she was in debilitating pain, could no longer eat, nor even tolerate kissing her spouse, due to severed nerves, numbness, and tingling in the lips, extreme swelling, and throbbing pain in the molar tooth Dr. Vogl "fixed."

[redacted] obviously followed up with Dr. Vogl within days of the work; when he x-rayed the main tooth (replacement filling) in question, Dr. Vogl seemed shocked to find he himself had "accidentally" drilled all the way through the enamel and into the pulp and nerve of the tooth.  Rather than apologizing for pain he had caused directly, or offering to mitigate injuries inflicted on his own patient, Dr. Vogl instead chuckled as he admitted what happened, laughing, "Well, let me know when you're ready to schedule the root canal on it!" When push came to shove, selling an additional $1200 in molar crowning services was of far more concern to Dr. Vogl than making things right-- as this collections effort would attest to, as would the inflation by an unsubstantiated $266 over any charges we have previously received, as would billings that far exceed any estimated or approved amounts that we were presented prior to authorizing any work with or from Dr. Vogl.

At time of initial diagnosis, then at checkout after the procedures in question were completed, Dr. Vogl's office manager, [redacted], received estimates from our then-insurance carrier, Delta Dental, for patient responsibility amounts. [redacted] marked through all of Delta's generated numbers, substituted her own, and by every appearance, hand-adjusted Delta's predicted "patient responsibility" portion down from almost $700, to a much more attractive final cost of $134.30, assuring me all along, "Not to worry about it (their numbers)," as we had "great coverage."

Several weeks later, however, we received a bill from [redacted]-- not only for the $679.10 she had completely misrepresented and misled us to believe was the much lower $134.30 final pricing, but in addition to an unexpected out-of-pocket bill from their associated pathologist-- who does not take HSAs, insurance, debit, or credit cards-- for $240.  This constitutes an increase of $785 in direct, unexpected, out-of-pocket expenses, for a grand total of $919.10 for a bill we were told, before agreeing to have work done at all, would be $134.30 in total. Now that Castle Rock Dental Health has opted to involve a collections agency in the matter, [redacted] and Dr. Vogl have fraudulently padded their demands by an additional $266.01; the last direct billing received (August 2012) still reflected their initial $679.10 charges, which we retroactively filed with our medical carrier to have reimbursed, but have not yet received a determination regarding.

The $266.01 is a false, unfair, and unsubstantiated number that has no place either on the official record, or in the dispensation of or debate over this "debt."

Especially not in light of the fact we have, just today, spent another $100 out-of-pocket for a dental consult for the CONTINUED DAILY PAIN and SUFFERING Dr. Walt Vogl negligently inflicted, callously failed to rectify, and cruelly charged almost $700 before-- before turning the account over to collections, where he lied and misrepresented monies owed, adding an unsubstantiated and non-recoverable $266.01 to an amount still under review by insurance entities.
