Review: I would like to know how to file a complaint about the Dr. William O. Benenson Nursing Pavilion for failing to promptly refunding money. On March *, 2014, we gave Benenson $24,490 in order to get them to admit my mother-in-law, [redacted], as a self-pay patient. They charge $395 per day, and the payment was for one month (31 days) in advance and one month security. [redacted] died on March **, 2014, 22 days after admission. On April *, 2014, I requested a refund of the balance, $15,800. It is now 6 weeks later, and despite multiple requests for payment, we have not received a refund. [redacted] promised me on May * for an immediate refund, but now he refuses to answer my calls to explain why we have not received a check. His excuse was that they are short staffed in their administration offices. Frankly, that is both ridiculous and frightening.Benenson's actions are in violation of the NYS Department of Health's Patient's Rights, that requires prompt refund of monies owed.Desired Settlement: Immediate refund of the funds owed, $15,800.

I received a call from [redacted]... on Monday May **, 2014 inquiring on the status of a refund on her Mother-in-law account. [redacted].. explained to me that her Mother-in-law had passed away on March **, 2014 and was waiting for a refund on the remaining balance on her account. She explained to me that she had spoken to Pavilion's, Controller on Monday May *, 2014 and he assured her that a check would be issued. However she still had not received the refund check. I spoke to our Account Receivable and Accounts Payable department and was told a check was processed and mailed to [redacted].. on Friday May *, 2014. I called [redacted].. and informed her that a check was issued and mailed for $16,195 on Friday May *, 2014 to her. I told her she will most likely receive it in the mail today but if she had not received it by Tuesday May **, 2014 to please call the Administration office.

On May **, 2014 [redacted]..called and told us that she had received the check. The check was cashed on May [redacted] 2014.
