Drafting Equipment Warehouse Reviews (2)
Review: Order number :[redacted] Product number: XBK42-DEW 30" x 42"Deluxe Portable Drafting Board
I found a listing for a drafting board from DEW's website. The website listed the board's brand as "BRAND: DEW EXCLUSIVE". I called the customer service number and left several messages inquiring as to what that exactly meant. It should have been a warning sign when I received no return phone calls. I decided to order the board hoping for the best and when it arrived it was an ALVIN brand board. Classic bait and switch. No where on the website was the name ALVIN mentioned yet on other boards on their site they clearly denote "Brand: ALVIN". I was very frustrated to learn of this deception but under a time crunch, and needing to use the board I decided to try it anyhow. Being a novice at drafting and using such boards I did not realize that the board was warped and was using it a while warped before I noticed this was the case. I realized it had been warped since I received it. I found out from a local equipment store that these specific "deluxe" ALVIN boards have been very problematic due to them using a thinner board that easily warps. So now not only was I mislead to believe I was getting a brand that, I suppose does not even exist (Brand: DEW EXCLUSIVE"), but then I also realized the board is completely unusable due to the warping. I am VERY unhappy as the board with shipping cost over 200 dollars and is totally useless. Also I went on the site to post my experience as a review. I thought that perhaps by some chance they would not know about selling these defective boards, and not only was my review NEVER posted in the "5-7 days" that the website states it will take for the feedback to go live, but since then the company has gone back and changed the details of their ad! It no longer even lists a "brand". They obviously received my comments and instead of trying to contact me to resolve their poor practice they instead just changed the ad for future customers. Such bad business practice and poor customer service! No wonder when you go to the page it says "no customers have reviewed this product" They obviously filter and delete any comments that are made. Overall this experience has been beyond abysmal and I am left an extremely dissatisfied and frustrated customer with a defective product that I cannot use.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund plus the cost of shipping.
Drafting Equipment Warehouse has resolved this complaint with the customer directly. We have spoken to the customer and since she had to purchase a replacement elsewhere we have given her a full credit for the product and the shipping costs. We are bringing the product back to the store so we can examine it to make sure this does not happen again. The claims that she made about us knowingly selling an inferior product are not true. We have never had this problem before with this product and we have also contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer is also not aware of this being a common problem and has had no recalls for this item. The customer received wrong information from another store that sells similar products.
Please let me know if you need any more information. Have a nice weekend!

I have been contacted by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and they have issued me a full refund plus the cost of shipping. They have are also sending me a box so that I can return the board for further inspection. In speaking with a customer representative I found out that the company had tried to email me directly
after I submitted my review but I was unaware of it due it filtering directly to my spam folder.
After speaking with a company representative I do not believe they knowingly sold poor quality boards. They did mention however that they use the manufacturer Alvin to assemble, sometimes store and also ship the "DEW Exclusive" boards directly to DEW customers from the Alvin warehouse using Alvin materials. The information I received from a local vendor was accurate and based numerous Alvin assembled boards arriving at the local vendor's store warped directly from the Alvin warehouse. As the DEW customer representative pointed out, perhaps these were a different model? Perhaps not? Perhaps they are a different model but use the same board model as a base?
Either way DEW has let me know they will investigate further. DEW has been in contact with Alvin and while Alvin mentioned they were not aware of any similar problems, the local vendor following up with Alvin here resulted in Alvin replacing the bowed boards with new boards with thicker bases that areapparently more durable. Alvin mentioned to him that occasionally the boards become exposed to moisture and that can cause warping if they are sitting too long in the warehouse. I have provided DEW with the contact information of the local vendor in case they would like to follow up more specifically. In the endit seems that this is an unusual case for DEW and I would like to point out that the DEW representative was very accommodating and very pleasant in rectifying the situation.
I consider this complaint resolved.
After much searching for a particular media cabinet, found this store. Called them up, they were very helpful, no pressure on the sale, and gave me an excellent price. And their carefully selected shipper didn't damage anything, which was a concern because the cabinets are large and made of sheet metal (very easy to crease something). A completely satisfactory transaction. Recommended to others. Would definitely buy from them again.
