Drain Doctor Sewer & Drain Service Reviews (1)

[redacted]10:07 AM (6 hours ago)tomeIn reference to the above complaint this will serve as our rebuttal. On February 19, 2015 5:08pm, [redacted] from 9 58th St. unit B Sea Isle City, NJ 08243, contacted Drain Doctor Sewer and Drain Service for a clogged sewer main approximately 70ft....

Customer at that time was advised of all pricing and policy.  Upon tech arrival service tech found house to be on stilts and all plumbing in question was built into wooden soffit in open exposed carport on both sides, and approximately 70 feet of main sewer line frozen as temperatures that week dipped well below zero.  Our service tech attempted to utilize 4 inch cleanout access to sewer main but homeowner refused to allow for fear of possible septic spillage onto concrete carport outside. Customer offered to drill hole in the pipe on a 90° bend after service tech refused knowing there would be no way to repair hole in the pipe because of the 90° bend.  Customer drilled a hole in the pipe after tech advise not to.  Our service tech continued for over five hours thawing the sewer main, utilizing entire 50 pounds of propane from 2 1/2 propane tanks.  Sewer main was open and running at that time.  Our service tech as a courtesy worked to try to thaw the branch lines after the main was already open.  Customer refused to remove soffit panels which would have been the only way to resolve the problem with the branch lines.  In reference to customer comments regarding our service tech being ill equipped, our tech arrived with all necessary equipment and due to weather conditions and temperature and wind chills, service tech was at the mercy of weather conditions.  The steam hose was regulation size from manufacturer 50ft.  New Jersey state requirements are for a cleanout access to be every 50 feet.  Our service tech worked diligently for over five hours.  Customer was advised in advanced of all rates.  Owner instructed service tech to continue to next scheduled service call after over five hours because there was no access to branch lines and little could  be done without removing soffit panels where branch lines connected to sewer main.  It is unfortunate that the customer does not understand what the job entailed and scope of work and that our company was working diligently and doing our best to provide a service with limited access and against the weather elements, but with circumstances beyond our control.  The following day owner had lengthy discussion regarding the circumstances as to what had occurred and explained to [redacted] in great detail, and informed [redacted] that unfortunately when temperatures were that extreme little else could be done.  The conversation ended and [redacted] at that time was with the understanding that the job was done to satisfaction. Drain Doctor has always provided 100% quality service and care about our customers.Hopefully this will shed light on the matter and clear any misunderstanding as customer is obviously misinformed.Sincerely,[redacted] Drain Doctor Sewer & Drain Service
