DrBoyd's Pet Resorts LP Reviews (1)

At DrBoyd’s Pet Resort & Veterinary Center we temperament test every dog that is brought in for daycare and boardingThis is for the safety of all the dogs, as well as, the entire staff at DrBoyd’s Pet ResortAfter determining the temperament of the dog, they are assigned a collar to wear; the color of the collar depicts their temperament This allows any staff member to know the temperament of the dog, at a glance Regarding the claim “For a year I have been boarding my dog with DrBoyd's Pet Resort & Veterinary Center? with the assumption she is in the yard playing all dayCome to find out she is in a kennel all day with min.” It is our policy to always alert the owner when a collar-color-change has taken place“Breaks” started as an “Orange collar” and because of her behavior, went to a “Red collar”, within her first days at DrBoyd’s Pet ResortMsWallace was told about her dog’s change in collar color and that having “Breaks” in the yard was creating a safety issue for the other dogsWhenever this occurs, it is our policy to always talk to the owner about socialization training for their dogsHowever, even without training, “Red collar” dogs would still be getting exercise, by being on “rotation”, meaning a handler plays with the dog one-on-one in the yard, and is walked, at least times a daySpecialized playgroups can be assembled, if possible, depending on which dogs can be positively matched with these dogs with during their stayMany of our “Red collar” dog owners call ahead of time to see if there are other dogs staying at the Resort who would be a good match for group play Our collar colors and their meaning: Green (large good) – general population, not small breed dogs, little to no behavior problems, neutral, well-socialized, confident dogs · These dogs are dogs without dog-aggression issues · They are rarely over stimulated and have a very high breaking point · Get along with most dogs and people · Generally have good dog manners, i.ethey respect each other’s space · Vary in age, but similar in temperament Orange (caution)- regardless of age or size - a closer eye should be kept on these dogs when in social playgroups · This collar signifies a temperament issue · These dogs have some dog-aggression issues · These dogs do not get along with all dogs; they may get along great with some dogs · Male/female dominant alphas · Low breaking point, shorter fuse · Handlers should watch with cautionTake no risksThese dogs are good until they aren’tDo not let stimulation to get too high, no playing with toys Red (dog aggressive)- This means the dog has dog-aggression and cannot interact with other dogs, OR a medical condition prevents dog from interacting with others · These dogs have dog-aggression issues · These dogs do not get along with other dogs · Prone to fighting · These dogs are to not play in general play groups · They may interact with a select few after extensive evaluation · Handlers should take no chances Some dogs just don’t like other dogsThese dogs are good with people, not dogs· If medical red collar, dog may not have required vaccines, or may be contagious with a disease Regarding the claim “When other dogs come in they are greeted with love and a smileWhen my dog comes in they treat her like a pit bullDiscrimination? I think so.” We have many well-socialized Pit Bulls in our yards, everydayWe do not turn away any dogs, including: in-tact, sick, injured, aggressive, pregnant, senior, puppy, or breed Regarding the claim “they wanted to charge me for an error that one of their employees made” On 6/15/we undercharged her by $4.90, inadvertently adding a military discountThis was our mistake, and when we tried to correct it, MsWallace replied, "Why should I have to pay for your mistake?" Regarding the statement “now I find out she is not eating while in thereWhy did no one tell me this?” As we note on all of our literature and our website, it is very common for dogs, in a new environment, to periodically not eat, or to eat less than they normally doAt times, “Breaks” would eat less than the amount MsWallace brought in for her, and we would return the uneaten food to her, at her requestHad “Breaks” lost weight during this time, the owner would have been informed“Breaks” weight went up pounds in the months she was our guest Regarding the statement “She comes home smelling like urine.” When the owner reported this to us, we gave “Breaks” a free bath Regarding the statement “To add insult to injury when confronting the manager, Trevor, about their lack of transparency and customer service he called me a liar.” When Trevor reminded MsWallace of the discussions of socialization training with Ellen, she had no recollectionWhen Trevor reminded her on the time he allowed her to play one-on-one with “Breaks” in our training area, she said it never happenedThis was not Trevor calling MsWallace a liarAlthough, MsWallace called our General Manager, Trevor, a liar several times in our last meeting with her regarding our “lack of transparency”We are very transparent about our policies of safety, and our protocols at DrBoyd’s Pet Resort & Veterinary CenterWe publicly post an average of 300-pictures, daily, of all of the dogs in the yards, in groupplay, and on rotationIt is very simple to see the difference of the dogs playing in the yards with other dogs, playgroups of or dogs, and the dogs who are on leash, being walked by our handlers At DrBoyd’s Pet Resort, we have staff members, including doctors, that are seeing to the health, happiness, well-being, and safety of every pet under our roof, hours a day, days a yearWe are sorry that MsWallace does not agree with the way we conduct ourselvesWe wish “Breaks” the best of luck in the future
