These clients did sign a contract for a basement finish and a deposit of $was given to hold a start date for 2nd week of JanuaryAll of our contracts are stated as non-refundableThe client decided to cancel the project and thus
breech the contract in mid December because they wanted the project to start sooner than the agreed upon, contracted dateI was forced to move another project ahead of theirs in order to provide work for myself and employees and offered the client an option for a later start date in the 2nd quarter of the yearThe client also refused this as wellI reminded them also that the deposit is non-refundableThe client is not telling the whole truth on this matter and needs to take responsibility for their own actions and thus the consequences when it comes to breeching a contractThe total contracted price was over $25k, which was taken from me and thus my family, employees, etcClients have an obligation and duty to follow through on their commitmentToo much of the time, the Contractor is blamed for the Clients shortcomings and suffersThis has never happened to my business before and I encourage any potential clients to contact my past clients who we have done work for, to give their testimony, as opposed to a Client who decides to spread acqusations in order to make them seem non-responsible for the entire situation and damage the creditability of the Contractor

We are glad DRC Basements has responded as our emails or phone calls have gone unanswered since the project was postponed to after July of this year
A deposit was provided well ahead of the original project startperceived inaction to pull permits or submit our plan to the village before the project start caused us a lose confidence that the project starting in the anticipated timeframeSeveral emails were exchanged; in hindsight I believe an in-person meeting or phone call would have address many if not all issues raisedIn January, DRC Basements made a business decision to start another project and postpone ours to after July of this year
