Dear Sir / Madam:
This letter is in response to a complaint about my business.
Dream Builders was hired by [redacted] three months into her displacement from her home due to a frozen pipe bursting on the upper floor. [redacted] asked us to...

provide her insurance company a cost for $85,000 but the contract between [redacted] and Dream Builders was only for $57,000. The terms of the contract were three payments 19k. She delivered the deposit payment in three portions 10k, 6k then 3k however, in the interest of time we began working before all funds were received. As we began to do the light demolition many structural problems were discovered. Each issue was brought to [redacted]s attention and a solution was given and executed to rectify the multitude of problems that were being discovered. It was explained to [redacted] several times that the deposit she gave was quickly being absorbed to address issues that were not in the contract. Dream Builders had every intent to complete [redacted] project. Dream Builders, LLC does not benefit otherwise.
After we received the approved electrical inspection (which would allow us start hanging the drywall) asked [redacted] for the second payment but she refused claiming that we weren't at that stage. I tried explaining to her every possible way that the money was absorbed addressing the unforeseen items BUT that I would be willing to find the project out of pocket with assurance from her Insurance company that I would receive payment directly. She did not respond to me for almost a week but then emailed a cease and desist letter. I have attached it below. It has her claims and my responses are in red (below her claim).
Regarding the invoice to her Mortgage Company, I was contacted by [redacted] Loan Serving on three occasions asking me if I was owed any money on this project. After reviewing the project and the additional costs to me I provided them with an invoice. To date I have not heard anything from them but will keep my options open regarding attaining payment.
Sincerely,
Nadine V
