Review: On 6-**-2013 stopped at there location at [redacted] to meet friends at the Rooftop place. At the door was ask if hotel quest ? Stated no was meeting friends there.This was between 930-10pm. He ask me to step to the side. Next person walked up and ask if hotel quest and person said NO. He lifted rope and said go ahead and have a great night. WOW . Then he told be if I wanted to go up I would have a min of $150 in drinks. Wait a minute. Just let them without a min or anything and now going to place one on me. Then they turned us a away. I emailed the hotel regarding actions. Today received call from [redacted] (Mgr) . He when on to saying door man has right to refuse for age,sex ,clothing and ex. Well I'm 48 years old and partner is 32. Then he states this happens all over NY . I go to NY 2-3 times a year and never not allowed in any business.Desired Settlement: Owner of Dream Hotels to call me.Don't want to talk to Mgr at [redacted].

I am responding to your letter to the Dream Hotel dated July *, 2013. Quite frankly, I do not understand what the complaint is.

The Dream Hotel does not operate the club; it is operated by an independent operator. The complainant, [redacted], fails to identify the other person who allegedly was permitted to walk in, whether he was not a hotel guest, was it someone who had previously been in the club, was it someone on the guest list or someone meeting a party in the club.

The club has a policy of advising persons in advance that if they are not on the guest list, there is a minimum charge of $150 if they wish to attend the club after 9:30 p.m. This is to avoid any disputes later.

I do not understand what the complaint is about. [redacted] was treated the same as everyone else who is not on the guest list after 9:30 p.m.

If you have any other questions, please advise.

Review: I had reservations for 5/*/14-5/*/14 @ this hotel. We (my daughter, cousin & I) arrived in our room, it smelled of OVERLY STRONG CHEMICALS (bleach/cleaning agents, etc) & there was a machine on the desk blowing the scent around the room. After about 5 minutes of trying to deal w/the smell, I called the front desk, advising them we couldn't stay in the room. We went back to the front desk & was advised they had no other rooms for us. After I then asked what we should do, we were told they "found" two SEPARATE rooms - this ONLY happened after my daughter had a coughing FIT for about 20 minutes. (We rode home on the plane, her chest STILL hurt from the coughing). One room was as big as a jail cell, the other was tiny too. We were in NY for my cousins BDay, needless to say this didn't sit well. The [redacted], was less than pleasant. We had no choice. The double room was dirty, air conditioning didn't work. The next morning. [redacted] attempted to credit only 50% of the room, I insisted, she didn't charge for it. She gave us "free breakfast" at the hotel restaurant, that consisted of three pieces of dry toast, a cornbread muffin and croissant?? The next night we were in another dirty room, (window sills, bathroom, etc) - we tried calling for ice but the phone didn't work, we then tried to regulate the air, it didn't work properly & the noise from the Rooftop bar (we were on the 11th floor) was horrible. When we went to check out, there was no apology, [redacted] wasn't available, so I had no choice but to PAY for this terrible experience. As we left, one of the employees who helped with our bags advised that there WERE larger rooms we could've been placed in and [redacted] made that choice. We were also told [redacted] is leaving as of 5/*/14 - and everyone was happy. We've stayed in this hotel THREE time, this is the WORST ever. This is not a cheap place to sleep for two days and we would expect to be treated better.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund. We take a NYC trip once a year, My cousins bday was 5/*/14, not a good experience. My daughter will be visiting her pri[redacted] doctor to ensure all is well from the chemicals. The right thing to do in Customer Service, as a [redacted], would've been to put us in the SAME room, that she HAD and wasn't truthful about. However, [redacted] treated us terribly and this hotel will not be our destination again.
