to our attention. She is a valued customer and we regret any dissatisfaction she experienced concerning our Facility. Ms_ [redacted] stated that she is concerned that our Facility in Pflugerville is marketed as 'urgent care,' when it is, in fact, and emergency care facility. She stated that she had previously complained about this in another Revdex.com complaint, but this account was settled. The issue was addressed in our Revdex.com response, dated, April 13, 2015 (copy enclosed). At that time, as a patient courtesy, the Facility Administration gave Ms. [redacted] a 33% adjustment of $250.00. However I did go online to view for myself how our facility is marketed. I have attached 2 copies of print shots that I took from the internet, and both of them show clearly the Pflugerville Facilities are listed as Emergency Care (see attached). I am sorry that this issue caused confusion for the patient. Ms. [redacted] also complained that our "business practices are deceptive and ... fee schedule should be considered price gouging." Here is an explanation of our charges and costs: Our pricing for services is based on a number of factors, and gross revenue charges are applied consistently to everyone, regardless of guarantor. Please know payment amount for services are negotiated between the parties via contract terms. Healthcare can be quite expensive to provide, with very high cost technology/equipment, expensive medication, as well as, premium labor. We feel that our valuation of services and payment expectations are very fair and reasonable. In addition, our prices are very competitive with the surrounding hospitals in this area. Finally Ms. [redacted] complained that she was surprised that the physician billing is separate from the Facility billing. This information is clearly explained on page 2 of our Condition of Admission and Consent Form. This form was initialed and signed by Ms. [redacted] at the time of service (see attachment). As stated in this form, the physician billing is completely separate from the Facility. Also their collections groups are different from the Hospital collection groups. Any balance due from the physician group would be strictly between the patient and that group (Capitol ER Associates or Medical Business Bureau as she stated). We have no input regarding physician billing. However, if the patient will contact the collection groups and have them call me directly, I will gladly explain to them that the Facility gave Ms, [redacted] a 33% courtesy adjustment. On occasion I have seen where other Providers may give the patient a similar discount when this information is given. We appreciate the opportunity to serve Ms. [redacted]. She is a valued customer and we are committed to providing the best service possible to all of our patients.
