[redacted] Complaint ID# [redacted]cc I am responding to [redacted]’s claim, and I am also attaching pictures to prove that the work that [redacted] did in my bathroom was not at all professional. [redacted] stated that “I had only one more full day of work to complete the job and had a list of things I need to fix and tough up, and was not given that opportunity.” This is a far stretch from the truth, [redacted] may have had some paint to touch up on, but as far as the main issues that were in his workmanship, those were not things he could fix on the last day because they were already installed improperly. One of the big issues is with the tile. [redacted] claims that I “cleaned up the floors”, and in doing so messed up the tile adhesive which caused major problems. He claims in his response that I used water to clean the floors before the grout was put in. This is completely untrue. I went into the bathroom that night after tiles were laid and noticed that the valve/pipes that [redacted] had welded together were leaking, and he didn’t notice before leaving. The tiles were wet from their bad workmanship on the valve, not because of anything that I had done. I placed a bowl under the leak and cleaned up the mess, and swept the floor with a broom. The water had also gotten on the wainscoting and damaged it at that point. I did purchase the tiles (17 of them) before work was started, and mentioned to [redacted] that the tiles were special order, and I could not get them at the store in St.Peters. The tile store quoted me on how many I would need for the size of my bathroom, which was 15 tiles, and I got 2 more for backup. That should have been enough if he wouldn’t have broken so many. Some of them were broken either during cutting or installing, which meant that I had to go to the store once to buy more, and then he had to go to the store once to buy more. I am under the impression that he did not know how to cut and install tile, or did not have the correct tools to do so. Here are a few of the other issues with tiles: *Some tiles were loose, and he claimed that the mortar mix was old, so I took it back to the store. The employee there checked the date on it, and said it was good, and that whoever used it must have mixed it wrong. *There were no tiles around the bottom of the toilet, so I questioned [redacted]. I was told the toilet bas will cover the spots with no tile, but they did not end up covering them. (see picture) *The toilet was wobbling, so he used a plastic shim to balance it out. (see picture) *No spacers were used when putting the tiles down, so the grout between them all is thing in some places, and thick in others. (see picture) *The tiles are uneven, some spots and corners stick up, and are not level with each other. (see picture) Problems with the sink: *I did not see the plumbing until after [redacted] left, but could tell that it was completely wrong. He should have used a “U pipe” instead of the plastic, stretchy piece he used. (see picture) *Another major issue is the way the actual sink was installed. [redacted] used a piece of OSB wood behind the sink. OSB wood will warp/expand if it gets wet. The instructions say to install sufficient backing BEHIND THE FINSHED WALL to provide adequate support to secure the mounting hardware. The sink could have fallen because of improper installation. (see picture) *He also used a shim to stop the sink from wobbling. (see picture) Problems with wainscoting paneling, chair rail, and baseboards: *The paneling is cut wrong in so many places. The corners do not meet at all. So he just used a piece of base board trim to attempt to cover that mistake. (see picture) *He damaged the paneling at the bottom somehow, and attempted to cover it with the baseboards. But in doing so the baseboards on one side were off the ground, and not even with the rest. (see picture) *The wainscoting has water damage from the valve that they didn’t put on right, and was leaking. (see picture) *The chair rail was uneven, so I removed it (after releasing [redacted] from the job) to see what the problem was. The paneling looks like it was cut with a handsaw! It was all uneven and sloppy which made the chair rail sit funny on it, and made it look bad. (see 3 pictures) *The baseboards do not meet up in the corner like they should. (see picture) *The wainscoting was BURNT and he was just going to paint over the burns. (see picture) Problems with plumbing: *Improper plumbing was used behind the sink. *PVC pipes and wainscoting were BURNED by their work, and they just left it. (see picture) *A huge hole was left in the wainscoting around the plumbing, you can see right into the wall. (see picture) I offered to pay [redacted] back for the supplies that he purchased out of pocket but was not given the receipts. At this point I have returned all of [redacted]’s tools, and supplies that he purchased except for 3 valves that were connected. The total cost that I was to pay for the whole project was $1325 plus the cost of any supplies that he purchased out of pocket. I already paid [redacted] $650 before the project was started, and I also purchased the needed materials. I feel as though I should not have to pay the remaining $675 because of the absolutely terrible job that [redacted] and [redacted] did on my bathroom. I have had to have a new contractor come out to my house and remove EVERYTHING that [redacted] and [redacted] did, and start over. So, at this point I am out $650 plus the cost of all of the materials I bought the first time because they were not useable. In all honesty, [redacted] should have to refund me my money. My lawyer advised me not to pay the remaining $675 and I don’t feel I should have to.

I tried to fax copy of letter regarding dispute resolution but it keeps showing busy signal, I am mailing a copy today, I received letter in mail Friday 8th if Sept. the letter states 7 days to respond and is dated the 5th of September, I just want to make sure that I'm not getting 7 days from the...

5th but rather the 15th of this month. It will be postmarked today the 11th. Thank you, [redacted]
