In response back to complaint # ***. *** *** gave us a quote of $1,to install a backflow preventer on 3-14-14. My husband *** *** and I told him that we would rent equipment from home depot to dig up the driveway so the pipes to the house could be installed and he offered to us that he had equipment for digging up the driveway and could do that for usWe then asked him a quote for how much the total of everything would cost and he said around $3,We had other verbal quotes that were also around $3,from plumbers and the reason we went with *** was because his quote was a reasonable price and he was able to start immediatelyWe never said we needed commercial pipes as this is just for our house and we have a small macadamia nut farmWe were previously using catchment water so if he choose to put in commercial pipes he did not discuss that with us. Since his equipment was constantly breaking down and it seemed like the project was taking a long time my husband and I went and spoke with him to make sure that the quote of $3,was still correctI told him that my parents were paying for it so I wanted to be sure that around $was still the costHe said that it should be around $but he couldn't say exactly and I said well its not gonna be more than $is it? He said oh no it wouldn't be that much and I said its not gonna be more than $3,and he said he didn't think it would be and that it would still probably be around $3,000. A couple days later he comes to our door at the end of the day and tells my husband that he will finish the job tomorrow but that the price was more than he expected and would cost us $6,something dollars. He said its because digging the rocks took him longer than expected. If he saw that the cost was going to more than double from what he had quoted us he should have said something before he continued working
I spoke with my parents about it and we told him to not come backWe then had another quote from a plumber, ***, to complete the project and told him what had happenedHe charged us $to complete the project and said that the quote of $is how much this project should have cost.
*** *** has also exaggerated the cost of different thingsFor example he told us that the backflow value itself cost around $when he originally gave us the quote and when he came to pick up his equipment he gave us a receipt for the backflow value showing that it only cost $459.97.
As for the pipes that he claims are $per foot, I highly doubt they cost as much as he is now trying to claim. We never asked for commercial piping and I wonder if the pipes we have installed even are commercial pipes since we never asked for thatI feel that this situation would not ever have occurred if *** would have just written us up a contract showing the costs of items and work to be completed that we could have agreed upon and signed
Attached is the receipt he gave us for the back flow valve and the check receipt which was paid to the other plumber who finished the job for $
Thank you,
*** ***
To *** ***, We will forward all of this information to RICO, if you persist in trying to collect any more money from us. Sincerely, *** and *** ***
Sincerely,

In response to complaint # [redacted] undated. I gave [redacted] a verbal price to install a 1 1/4"  lead free backflow preventer ( reduced pressure principle) ,  on or about 3-14-14 for the sum of  $ 1,325.00.. Job finished.  [redacted] asked me to install water line but I could not give him a price on instillation since water line had to go thru rock, 300 feet of rock .Rock cannot be bid on for obvious reasons.  I had breakdowns yes, never asked client to pay for breakdowns. The instillation cost of water line ran $ 3,482.37 . Per foot price installed was $ 11.60 for 300 feet of 11/4" H.D.P.E. pipe . Seems reasonable to me. Since client is running a commercial operation from the property why not have a reliable water delivery system that meets A.W.W.A. standards. Client had other bids, let's see them, are they up to standards for commercial property ?   Aloha    [redacted]
