My son is disabled and is transported to school daily by Drew Transportation. Recently my son was treated in a disrespectful manner by the morning driver whose name was [redacted] After taking him out to the cab and returning in my house I witnessed her telling him to come on and hurry up in an intimidating manner with a startling tone of voice and mean expression on her face. My son who is non-verbal and enjoys going to school now feels upset when he is to be transported by Drew Transportation. Mistreatment during transportation should not destroy the positive experience he has had at school. This was a direct concern because I was viewing this treatment from the window in my home, so what could occur away from my house if this treatment could occur directly in my driveway. He now seems upset in the morning when he is put on the cab and points to my car hoping I will drive him to school. Im sure that these type of issues can destroy any child's self esteem never-the-less a disabled child's.After requesting a change in the morning driver, I was told that a replacement driver would arrive two days later which was 03/06/15. Nobody came to pick up [redacted] up on that Friday. To make the situation worse, no driver showed up for 3 additional days after being told by [redacted] the transportation manager that someone would come on all of those days. [redacted] at no point offered an apology and I had to call numerous times to get in contact with her, at which she never returned my calls.In addition to all these issues in the winter of 2014, my son was left at school because the vehicle provided by Drew Transportation broke down leaving my son stranded at school. Unfortunately I was not able to leave my nursing shift to transport him to his after school program, so a staff member was left bringing him to his after school program.These transportation company had demonstrated lack of coordination and caring. [redacted] has been very rude and unresponsive to my concerns.Desired SettlementHoping that I can get another company to transport my son to and from school, but at the least I would like a call from the owner or director. Would like my son's afternoon driver to transport him in the am and pm. He is a very kind gentleman and has been the only individual to display caring and professional behavior. This issue was not due to our public transportation services. This is the first I've heard of this situation. I will be calling Ms. [redacted] to inform her of our findings. I was very disturbed when I read the complaints issued by Ms. [redacted]. The driver has been called in concerning this matter and reprimanded. The driver has also been replaced by Mr. [redacted] that will remain on the route for the remainder of the school year. Ms. [redacted] was reprimanded for her poor communication and lack of care with this delicate matter. We take our services seriously and never want to have any of our students to feel belittled or out of place. We have the utmost respect for our parents and their children that ride with us daily. This situation has been handled and we will ensure that [redacted] has a comfortable experience from this point on with Drew Transportation. Drew Transportation is a horrible company to work with when dealing with special needs children. I had the worst experience ever when my child's transportation was provided by them. I had a complaint every other day from the time he started riding in October 2013 until 2015. I filed a formal complaint with Drew and of course there was never any response. I contacted Wake County Special Education program and they were no help either. A senior administrator told me that everything would be worked out and I advised her that her response was unacceptable because at this point my child had used the bathroom on himself twice and he is potty trained. He was riding longer than he should have. I also contacted disability rights of NC to have the company investigated. As I stated to them Drew Transportation should NOT be allowed to transport special needs children. They have no consistency, no sense of time, & just plain rude. I have at least 3 pages of documentated issues to prove it.","neg-1
