We were told that the pre blasting survey (Filming) was being done for our protection. It shows that our basement was in new condition prior to the blasting. Our home is new construction. The pre blasting survey shows that the foundation of our new home was in perfect condition prior to the blastingThe Blasting company and the company that took the video are refusing to release any pre blasting survey or video to us or to our insurance company. We called the Blasting Company on January 15th to report the damage. We had to leave a message as no one answered the phone. *** On January 16, *** came and saw the damage that had been done to our home and took a picture with his cell phone. Our home is approximately one hundred feet from the site where the blasting took place. *** didn't get back to us about the damage The company never got back to us and refused to cooperate with our homeowners insurance company to whom we also reported the damageOur Insurance company told us that the Blasting company would not speak with them, answer their letters, or return any calls. After becoming frustrated with our insurance company's inability to resolve the situation. We again got in touch with the (Blasting Cn August 20, Although the Blasting Company monitors the blasting with the use of a seismograph they refuse to release the seismographic record of the blasting to our insurance companyThey mention that they did blasting at "another location". The blasting was done within one hundred feet of our home which is very close and could not be done without damaging our home. The damage to our basement was caused by the blasting which was carried out over several days on the lot abutting our property in January of The company states that our original claim of damage has been in some way changed enhanced or embellished since it was first reportedIt has not. Their Insurance company "Fairmont Specialty" sent us a letter underplaying the ferocity of the blasts by facetiously comparing the explosions which damaged our home to a low level vibration such as would be caused by a person walking across a floor

Our company performs Pre-Blast Surveys on all properties concerned within a designated area. We exercise extreme caution when in a residential area by monitoring our blast with the use of a seismograph. When Mrs*** called us August 20th, 2014, indicated there was damage to her
new home as a result of our blasting at another location near her home. We did the blasting in the area in January of 2014. At the time she indicated there were cracks in the floor. We filed the claim immediately on the 20th of August with our insurance company. On August 21st of our insurance company forwarded a letter to Mrs*** at *** *** *** in *** ***, ME *** explaining they have received her claim, provided a claim number and explained they were in the process of investigating her claim. On September 8th, we inquired to the status of the *** claim with our insurance company who then forwarded a letter to Mrs*** explaining exactly where they were at in the investigation and the seismograph records they were gathering and they respectfully requested her patience. We noted the Claimant (Mrs***) had now told the insurance company she had more extensive damage than she had told us in the original claimAfter receipt of and investigation of records received by the insurance company........the insurance company denied their claim. We exercise the utmost in care in all of our blasting efforts. For over years we have been drilling & blasting for foundations, trench, utility trench and have done extensive work in residential areas. We take EVERY precaution to avoid this type of activity from occurring

The reply from Drilling and Blasting Rock Specialists is apparently concerning another home owner's complaint and video First we are in no way in a remote location or far from the blasting siteOur home is immediately adjacent to the site of the blasting. There were several blasts here over several days. Our "garage floor" is not an issue in this case and has not been mentioned by us and is in no way the focus of our complaint as stated in the company's reply. Our complaint is concerning the basement floor and walls which have been damaged due to the blastingWe have noticed no cracks or separations to speak of in the ceilings or rooms of the home as the company mentions seeing in a video and again are not the focus of our complaint nor are we complaining about any sticking doors. There are no patches in our basement as they mentioned We have had nothing patched or repaired in the basement or anywhere in the homeThere are of course seams where the foundation may have been poured in different stages but those seams have withstood the blastingThey are apparently looking at a video from someone elses home and not our home. The description that they give of the video that they are watching is not of our home. After the blasting was finished *** from the blasting company came to our home to inspect and photograph the damage to the basement. We called Drilling & Blasting Rock Specialists about the damage the next day and left a message but to no avail. We then turned the case over to our Homeowners Insurance company for them to handleWe were in contact with our insurance company from time to time until the summer when we found out that Drilling & Blasting Rock Specialists would not answer any calls or messages and in general would not cooperate or communicate with our insurance companyWe called the company that took the video (BECC Co. ***) to request a copy of the videoWe were told that they couldn't release the video without the case numberWe again called them back with the case number and were told that they still would not release the video to usI was then told by a representative of BECC Cothat "the video is encrypted and that they are "prohibited by law from releasing the video" to meThe Blasting company's advertising deceived us and our neighbor, who is the the owner of the home where the blasting took place, by stating that the video and pre blast survey is taken for the neighbors protectionThe following is correspondence from our home owners insurance company..... "We have made inquires of the blasting company, Maine Dept of Environmental Protection, the State Fire Marshall, and the insurance company for the blasting company for any data they may have regarding the blasting activity, including all pre-blasting survey data as well as seismic data recorded during the blasting activities. We have not received the necessary data from them. We request that you provide us with any copies you may have in your possession of this data, to the extent that it may have been provided to you. If you do not possess them, please request this data of the blasting company and the government agencies, as they might be more responsive to your request." In our conversation with our Insurance Company they said the blasting company refuses to show the blasting records and that they have hit a b*** wall with them due to no responseThey said that they cannot process our claim without the pre-blast survey. We again called Drilling and Blasting Rock Specialists on July 08, and spoke to *** ***, and then again in August and spoke to *** ***. *** *** from the Blasting Company returned our call on August 20,and told us that the reason they ignored our Insurance Company's requests is because they do not give information to just anyone. Thank You, *** and *** ***

First and foremost our apologies for the delay in responding to the consumers' rejection. I would very much like to begin by saying Drilling & Blasting Rock Specialists, Inc., takes every precaution of safety to ensure and prevent any and all damage to any of the remote dwellings within our blasting perimeter. This process is address by having an independent company perform pre-blast surveys which were conducted in this case as well as all other cases where we are contracted to blast. This consumer complaint has clearly indicated that the pre-blast video showed "no cracks" in her garage floor which is the focus of this complaint. The consumer also indicated in the same paragraph that our company would not forward the video to her homeowner's insurance company. This consumer has no knowledge of what was in the video since the consumer "never" saw the video. Had the consumer seen the video they would NOT be making this complaint. Since this is a fairly new home of three years, as indicated by the consumer in the video, the cracks in the floor at the filming of the Pre-Blast appear to be settlement cracks from the construction of the home and the settling of the home. There is an enormous crack in the basement floor which goes across the floor with a few "vein-like" cracks in them. There are cracks in the basement walls throughout which have been patched (some) and other cracks which have yet to receive any attention. In one corner at the base of the corner and the garage floor is a crack that goes up the side of the foundation. In the video are also the cracks in the upstairs room that are separations between the walls and the ceiling along the seam in corners where the joists and the corners were made. These cracks generally appear in new homes after the homes have settled. In checking throughout our office, we have never received any requests for a copy of the video, nor have we been in possession of any videos of the premises. Our insurance company and the independent monitoring company coordinate their efforts to provide such information, but once a person places a claim with our office, we immediately turn the complete files over to the insurance company for their expertise and action. This Revdex.com complaint has been turned over to me as the Comptroller of the company and I have reviewed all of the files and the have seen the video for this location. Cracks were clearly there in this home prior to our blasting and the scientific information provided by the insurance company to the consumer is accurate and correct. This consumer has only called our office once since we are here from 5a.mto 5:p.m. Phones in this company are always covered and after hours is answered by our automated telephone answering system. We continued with exercising safety and caution to our staff and the surrounding community where we were blasting and will continue this tradition in the years to come

We have reviewed the video again and our position stands on the results of the video for this property.  Any other questions please do not hesitate to call or contact me
