Dr.Steven Cork D.O.

On 9/12/2011 I had an appointment for a "wellness" visit at Dr. [redacted]'s office. Per my insurance plan with Florida Blue, I am allowed 1 "wellness" visit per year with no deductible to be paid by me. During the visit Dr. [redacted] asked me how I was doing and if I had any problems. I made a few random complaints which he noted but issued no prescriptions except one for some routine lab tests. I am now receiving a bill for the visit in the amount of $107.75. (the difference from the bill and what my insurance paid) Upon calling my insurance, I was told that the claim had not been filed as a wellness visit. Upon calling Dr. [redacted]'s office, I was told that since I did not claim perfect health and said that I had a few issues--the visit was no longer classified as wellness. (doesn't make sense that you would bother to see a physician if you felt you were in perfect health) When I argued with the office receptionist she said that she filed the claim per Dr. [redacted]'s orders and "had I come in more often throughout the year" they would have been able to file it differently. (how does that make sense? is it because the charge for wellness is less than if something is wrong?) I guess Dr. [redacted] is trying to make up for $$ he wasn't able to charge throughout the year. I don't feel that I am responsible for this fee and don't think I should be subject to collections for not paying.
