DTRIC Insurance Company, Limited

DTRIC customer since 2017. First two policies were paid in full. I started my third policy in July, which was to broken down into 4 payments since I could not pay the whole amount in full at the time. On 7/9/18, I made my first payment. At the end of July, my husband was laid off from work. I contacted DTRIC on 7/22/18 with my hardship and spoke to customer service rep Ryan about my situation, and that I would need to break up my payments monthly through the end of December (Aug-Dec). He explained the late fees that would be accrued and I stated that it still is more affordable at this time. He stated to call back when I get paid to make my payment. Today 8/20/18, I called DTRIC and originally spoke to Mahealani who stated she cannot accept my payment, that I would need to pay $X to keep my insurance. Informed her of my prior conversation with Ryan, yet she persisted and was still unable to accept my payment. I asked to speak to her supervisor. I spoke to a manager and explained my situation again. He repeated what Mahealani had said, as well as went on to tell me that my prior conversation is not what is documented to be true and that Ryan was standing next to him confirming this. He was calling me a liar. I told him to listen to the prior conversation since they are recorded. I tried to reason with him about my hardship. All I was looking for was to break up my policy payments over the next 5 months, rather than 3 large payments that I could not afford. He stated that I have two brand new cars; implying that I can pay. He then went on to tell me that he had suffered a hardship as well, and had to sell his car; implying that maybe I should sell my car too. I informed him again that I am only looking to break the payments over 5 months. Clearly, DTRIC CANNOT HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS DURING HARDSHIP. The tone of this manager was by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced! DTRIC felt more like dealing with a collections agency, not an insurance company.
