Customer Name -[redacted]
Vehicle - 2010 Volkswagon
font-size: 12.8px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Reason for work - Vandalism of vehicle
Vehicle arrived on a flatbed to the body shop on June 3, 2015.
NJ Manufacturer's Insurance adjuster evaluated and approved repairs on June 4,2015. Vehicle owner was not present for the assessment of vehicle by insurance adjuster
Services approved:
Replacement of front driver window.
Replacement of rear window and window pane.
Replacement of front windshield
Replacement of rear windshield.
Repair scratches to front bumper, right side front fender, roof of car, right and left quarter panels.
The above vehicle was brought to [redacted] Customs on June 4, 2015. The vehicle was delivered to our shop via a flatbed truck. Because this vehicle was vandalized it had no windows. Prior to arriving our shop, there was accumulated water inside the car due to weather conditions. The insurance adjuster never included this into the original claim for repairs. The windows were replaced. The vehicle was fully painted due to the large amount of scratches on vehicle from the shattered glass. Once this work was completed the customer was contacted and advised the vehicle was ready for pick up.
Upon customer arrival and inspection, customer complained of scratches inner deck lid due to shattered glass. Customer also complained that gas/trunk latch was not working. These items were never approved by the insurance adjuster for replacement/repair. Customer was informed to contact his insurance adjuster and request approval of additional supplement to cover expenses for the latch and deck lid to be replaced. This request was approved by the customers insurance, however the payment for the replacement parts and the labor was paid directly to the customer by his insurance adjuster. Once the additional parts were replaced, customer picked up his vehicle on or around June 22, 2015.
Approximately 4 weeks later the customer returned to [redacted] Customs with additional complaints. Customer stated that an air bag light indicator/sensor was present. In addition the customer complained about the paint job done on the vehicle. Customer stated "the clear coat on car is dull and there were swirl marks on the body of the car". Customer was advised that we had no control over the air bag sensor as this was not present during the initial assessment of car. Insurance approved for replacement of windows. There was no reason to change any mechanical hardware to window controls, as this was not originally damaged and insurance adjuster had approved repair/replacement. Customer was advised that we would re paint the entire car due to our paint work guarantee. The customer requested a rental vehicle replacement, at which time we advised customer that we would fully reimburse or directly pay the cost of a rental vehicle. Customer was adamant that "a vehicle had to be rented in the shop owners personal name for the customer to use while his car was being re-painted". We again told the customer that was not optional and offered to cover the cost of the rental.  The customer advised us he would make other arrangements and left the shop and never returned, nor dropped off the vehicle for re-painting.
The amount paid to [redacted] Customs by NJ Manufacturer's was in the amount of $4792.72.
Mr. [redacted] was responsible to pay $1500 of which he paid $800.00 and still owes $700.00
There is also an open balance of $567.82
$325.89 - Deck lid part
$16.93 - Gas/Trunk latch
$50.00 labor charge for 4 1/2 additional hours
At no time did Mr. [redacted] pay the amount of $5,610.00
