Duct Man

SCAM? Cuts corners big timeI saw an advertisement on a mini van and got the card for "Pat the duct man"..gave him a call because I like to support small, local businessesI gave Pat a call and set an appointment to have my ducts cleaned..I cough a lot at home and thought maybe allergens in my ducts could be the issuehe showed up 9AM a few days laterHe rolls out this impressive looking machine and hooks it into my basement duct, and and take a shop vac and vacuums out my vents upstairsAfter about an hour he said he was doneI then asked him, aren't you going to use the brushes to scrub the dust out?..he replied that he doesn't use brushes because it "could damage the ductwork"WHAT? He then explained that his super powerful machine has sucked all the dirt out and all is wellI paid him the $cash, and he leftI then took my digital camera and snapped pictures of the ducts, and it was a nightmare..piles of dust and debris everywhere within my ductsI then called him and asked him to come back and do it right..he said he was far away and would come back another dayI didn't hear anything for a bit, so I called AGAIN, and he then said he would be back on Tuesday at 9AMHe did come back and use the brushes, and also made more of the necessary access holes into the duct system to thoroughly clean itHe says he's got years of experience, but that does not mean years of qualityI think Pat is *** and relies on people not knowing the difference in a good job and a bad one because its not easy to see his work once "completed"I would suggest using an ethical company and getting before and after photos to be sure you aren't cheated like he attempted to do to meAlso, be sure the company used brushes, or atleast pressurized air to agitate the dust from within the walls of your ductwork..it does not get properly cleaned from the vacuum alone..don't believe that lieI would not recommend this man at all

UnprofessionalOwner was annoyed with me because he had difficulty finding my house (was using an old map apparently since the home is 10+ years old) I had to go drive around to find him in the neighborhood and when I asked why he was so annoyed with me for getting lost he walked off the job mumbling "I could go get someone else to do it if I thought he had attitude." Wont be calling that company ever again

I had Pat Matthews, the Duct-Man, out to my house to clean the ducts I found him to be prompt, reliable, and knowledgeable He explained the process and answered any questions that I had He also charged me exactly what he advertised...there was no 'up selling' or 'add-ons' I am completely satisfied and would recommend the Duct-Man to my friends and family
