Duke Energy Carolinas Reviews (7)

I recently moved to [redacted] from [redacted] I called Duke Energy on the phone, paid no deposit and my power was hooked up two days laterThe highest power bill I've had since moving in May was $ So far I am very satisfied with my bills and tickled pink to be out of the city Westminster which has some of the highest power bills in the country

Duke energy charges ridiculous amounts of money per monthly bills our bill with IPL was a month give or take dollars depending on weather our duke bills reach anywhere from 250-dollars per month are you kidding!!!, that is almost a months worth of rent for a small apartment some months,I would never recommend anyone to move anywhere that duke services, its sad we have to move from a town we love because our electric bill is a second mortgage almost

I bought a new house, with calling months ahead of time to get everything set upThey came and told us 2-weeks for a line and pole, which is a bit long for thisSo we contacted via Twitter that this is a issue--they called saying now weeks??! This is ridiculous !!!!!

I cannot express how irritated I get every single time I have to contact Duke Energy on the phone. I have never had a decent call where I got off the phone and was satisfied. Their customer service is horrible! I get transferred at LEAST 3 times every call and have to give ALL of my information again to each person just so they can pull my account up which is frustrating. Each person I speak with gives me a different answer to my question. It always makes me wonder, do all representatives get trained the same way? I would imagine that they do but then they should all be on the same page with the SAME answers to any questions that they receive. I feel that Duke Energy does NOT care about their customers and they only care about making money. They know that no matter how upset a customer is with them that the customer still has to use them for their electric services so it really doesn't matter. I spoke with a SUPERVISOR today who could not help me with my issue so she transferred me to one of her representatives. What sense does that make?! Why would a supervisor send me to a customer care representative? She should have sent me to someone higher than herself but I'm assuming she did not want to get in trouble for the way she was talking to me on the phone. I HATE Duke Energy and if I could ever switch companies, I would do it in a heartbeat! But obviously that is not going to happen anytime soon because they are such a big company and cover most everywhere near me. TERRIBLE COMPANY!!

I recently moved to [redacted] from [redacted] I called Duke Energy on the phone, paid no deposit and my power was hooked up two days later. The highest power bill I've had since moving in May was $ 168.25. This was my 2nd time contacting Duke’s Customer service since setting up my initial service in October of last year. The agent/representatives display of unwillingness to assist or interested in the customer needs was disturbing yet validated by complaints I’ve heard or read over the internet. Conducting business to transfer service I would expect the agent to have some type of enthusiasm at 8:30AM, she was dry & uneventful I didn’t feel comfortable or confident my transaction was going to be handled. I asked to speak to someone else who was less than pleasant herself, I then in turn ask for a supervisor who lacked or couldn’t display any type of coaching to handle a escalated call. Instead of her apologizing for the experience/service, she proceeded to tell me her agents are qualified to handle a transfer vs. acknowledging the tone & service by the 1st agent. The supervisor completed the transaction with a sharp tone when it was brought to her attention, how she was conducting herself with me. It was gut wrenching to know these young ladies are on the phone without coaching & feedback serving the public. My apologies if they are receiving, just not displayed with the public.

This is the most unprofessional company that I have ever worked with in my life. It took them 2 months to transfer service into my name at my rental property. The people that work at their call centers are disrespectful and not helpful at all.
This company has a monopoly on the energy market in my area, if there was another option I would never use Duke Energy.
