DuPage Housing Authority administers the federally subsidized Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program (formerly called
Section 8) in DuPage CountyThe HCV program is tenant based meaning each subsidy is assigned to an individual tenant to use anywhere in the country that a voucher program existsThere also exists a Project Based Voucher (PBV) program where the subsidy is assigned to a specific unit to subsidize the tenant that moves into the unitIt is not portable like a HCV
The application process is basically the same for both programsThe PBV units in DuPage County are almost exclusively assigned to properties designated for senior citizens who MUST be years of age or older at the time of determining their program eligibility in order to live in a PBV unitThis is an additional requirement beyond passing a criminal background check and income eligibility in the regular HCV program
An applicant for a PBV senior only building MUST be denied a unit and be determined ineligible for the program if they (1) don't pass the criminal background check, or (2) exceed the maximum income threshold, or (3) are less than years old
DuPage Housing Authority owns no public housing units and has no other programs to assist applicants who may be in need of the subsidized housing servicesSince the voucher program, both HCV & PBV, are not entitlement programs like Medicare, our ability to assist is limited to those applicants that qualify and fortunate enough to be in the in the right place at the right time
Every applicant that is denied a subsidy for cause is notified of that denialAt times an applicant is not satisfied with a determination of ineligibility and seeks alternative means to receive the benefit, often misrepresenting the factsDuPage Housing Authority has six (6) documented contacts with the applicant between July 17, and September 2, further advising on the reason for being ineligible and our inability to assist further
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 9, 2015/09/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
