Duquette Remodeling

Subject: Statement for Complaint against Duquette Remodeling, 76 Blossom Rd., West Springfield, MAOn July 31, 2013 Duquette Remodeling/ [redacted] was contracted to remodel the main bathroom in our home. The contract/quote also included the installation of a generator transfer switch, the installation of a basement door, re-centering the hallway/attic hatchway, and re-work of two bedroom ceilings (i.e. scrape popcorn ceiling to flat/smooth finish, patch /sand, and re-paint). As part of this contract, we requested that this work be performed by a licensed electrician, licensed plumber and a licensed general contractor. Mr. Duquette informed us that he could do the work and provided us his license number. The work was started on September 9, 2013. NOTE: Based on Mr. Duquettes recommendation the work was started prior to delivery of the bathtub, bathroom cabinets, and all other plumbing fixtures.To date the bathroom re-modeling work is incomplete and Mr. Duquette walked off the job on October 25, 2013 after my wife requested that several items be re-worked due to shoddy workmanship. Subsequently, after Mr. Duquette walked off the job, we contacted [redacted] for guidance and information. We were informed by [redacted] that Mr. Duquette is not a licensed general contractor in the state of Connecticut or any state for that matter. We are in the process of obtaining estimates for job completion and rework to be provided by three other licensed contractors.Product_Or_Service: Home RemodelDesired SettlementThe desired settlement is that we be reimbursed for all money paid to Mr. Duquette for the bathroom remodel job be returned in full by 11/12/13. Since the entire job has to be reworked;we have incurred financial loses and will have to pay for material twice. (i.e. all new tile, granite replacement, lighting and other material that was paid for by us which he took when he walked off the job, etc.)
