Custom built Garden Patio Doors were purchased from Durabuilt via [redacted] and More on Aug 16, 2013.As the doors were being installed, the journeyman installer noticed a number of manufacturing errors such as hinges countersunk too much, non square frame, gaps in frame, as well as others. The original door was already pulled out and was unable to be put back. Installer continued to carry out minimal installation [redacted] on [redacted] advice. We agreed to supply the customer with an identical garden door to compensate. The door was delivered on January 30, 2013.Durabuilt only supplied the door to the customer. We did not install the door. The customer hired third party to install the door. Once we were advised about the issues with the door, we inspected the product and provide replacement door as per Durabuilt's warranty. As Durabuilt did not install the door, nor charged the labour for install, the re-installation is not included the warranty. Have our company also installed the door, our warranty should have covered the installation. Our warranty is limited to replacement value only.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The door did not fail after installation, it failed before it left their manufacturing plant with multiple defects which should have been easily found.While corresponding with Durabuilt, this email was sent:Hi [redacted],Durabuilt had stated:Labour warranty as you are referring to is our labour cost to replace product. For example, if your window seal is broken, we provide replacement glass and put in the window.The frame of the door (among others) was deemed defective and covered under warranty. As you have stated if the glass fails, Durabuilt will replace the glass and the cover the labour charges to come out and install the new glass. So in my case the frame failed (as well as other components). As per the logic stated above, Durabuilt will replace the frame (along with all other defective components) and the labour to Come out and replace the frame.Final Business Response Durabuilt Windows and Doors would like to acknowledge the customer's difficulty with his initial purchase. Durabuilt greatly appreciates his business and would like to assist in covering the installation of his new door. We would like to contribute $450 + tax to help with the installation of the new door. Durabuilt will be processing a cheque this week (March 3-7, 2014).We are currently working towards improving the layout of our warranty to make it easier for our customers to understand.
