 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:No work was done to my car that revealed anything that was not apparent when I delivered the car for Dutch Valley Auto Works' estimate. The estimate that was provided to me by George D[redacted] of Dutch Valley Auto Works utilized CCC software which itemizes operations to be done but often obscures from the consumer what is included in these operations. In Mr. D[redacted]’s first and some of his subsequent estimates he very inappropriately suggested I pay for repairs to body parts that were not damaged and replacement of body parts that my car does not even have – all this being hidden from me in line-items for large operations. Fortunately for me I have access to someone who is familiar with and uses this same software and it was revealed to me what his initial estimates included. When I insisted that more scrutiny be given to the estimate and that it be corrected for the actual repairs I was asking to have done and that it be written for the actual car that I was asking them to repair, Mr. D[redacted] eventually produced an estimate that was agreeable to me and, in e-mail correspondence that I can provide, I ask if it is fair to the shop.I do not necessarily disagree with Mr. T[redacted]’s use of [redacted]’s definition of “estimate” but I disagree with any notion that he, Mr. D[redacted] or Dutch Valley Auto Works have no responsibility for the estimates they provide and how they guide consumers in the expensive and time-sensitive commitments they make to service providers. Gathering estimates and delivering an immobile car along with all of the parts necessary for the unique agreements that are made between a repair facility and the owner of an older car like mine are no small undertaking. For the effort and months that I took to provide DVAW with my car, my own scrutiny and insistence on theirs, I believe it is absolutely reasonable that I expect the service to be provided to me for closer to what it is stated in the written estimate unless something is revealed in the process of repairing the car that could not be reasonably foreseen. No work was done to my car by DVAW. Their new estimate, and insistent rejection of the estimate to which I agreed to have them do work, was stated by DVAW to be justified on having small dings all over the car repaired, which is not necessary and I do not want, and additional labor for removing and reinstalling obvious items like windshield wipers and mirrors that should have been included in the agreed upon estimate (Given their use of [redacted] software these details or absence of them were obscured from me and additionally were beyond what I believe to be fair to expect a consumer to note themselves.) Dutch Valley Auto Works initially refused to do the work to my car unless I agreed to the new estimate that was over 50% greater than the estimate they had lured me to their shop with. When I questioned this Ken T[redacted], acting as an agent of DVAW, outright refused to have DVAW do the work and though he did offer to tow my car away from their shop he did not take responsibility for the burden actions on the part of DVAW and their agents had placed on me.I respectfully disagree with Mr. T[redacted]’s dismissal of my concerns.

[redacted]1:58 PM (24 minutes ago)to me Hello [redacted], Yes, my complaint with Dutch Valley Auto Works LLC has been resolved. Thank you for the follow-up.

I have used Dutch valley three different occasions, and was very pleased with my first visit, being collision damage. The second and third I was very disappointed in the service I received.repairing a steering issue. I had Dutch valley repair a steering issue, then took it back a week or so later to diagnose a noise and obnoxious vibrations. They had my car for an entire week before " resolving" the issue, only the issue wasn't resolved. They replaced break pads, drums, and rear coil springs. I got my car back, paid about $900 and didn't even make it off of Columbia ave before I STILL felt vibration and heard noises while driving. They had already closed, so I called first thing the next day and explained to them my situation hoping they'd Atleast hear me out or take another look. Their response was "you're car is very problematic, it could've been anything and we aren't responsible." They personally told me my vehicle was ready to put a new inspection sticker on it, for an additional $60. I did not feel $60 was a fair price, so I declined. If they had my car for a week, did a full inspection to diagnose my issues, and I didn't even make it a mile off of their property before I still had the same symptoms I just paid $900 to have fixed, how is that my cars fault? This did not seem fair to me, and they were very rude and unaccomidating. They said they'd take a look at it, almost a week later, and I'd have to pay them to diagnose the same issue I already paid them to diagnose. I will not be taking any of my vehicles back to this garage.
