Review: I signed up with DirecTV close to two years ago. About six months ago I had to call them and tell them and I had fallen on hard times and [redacted] and could not afford their programing. I was given a six month suspension at that time. That six months is now up and I am still on hard times, in fact, I am soon to be kicked out of my home and will have no where to live. I do not have family that can help me or friends either. I contacted DirecTV and informed them of my situation to see if I could cancel my service completely and let them know that I needed to send all their equipment back. I was told at that time that their was nothing they could do and that my service will resume as normal. I then contacted their upper management and was told that I had three choices. 1) I could continue my service and pay my bill. 2) They could cancel my services and be charged an early disconnect fee, plus the months bill that I have already been charged. Or, 3) I could go on suspension for another six months, but would still have to pay the one months bill that I had been charged. I informed the manager that I would not be able to do any of those since I did not have any money and would not have a home to live in at the end of July. I was told that those would be my only options. How can a company charge someone who has volunteered to them to send back their equipment and give them notice that they could not pay for their service, charge that person even more. I even told the manager that the bill would just go to collection and probably never get paid because I would never receive it since I would not have an address after the end of the month. He informed me that I had signed up for their service and so therefore I was obligated to pay whatever charges were incurred even though I have no money and no possibility to pay any of it. You would think that a company might be a little more sympathetic to people who have lost everything in our wonderful economy.Desired Settlement: I would just like DirecTV to remove the charges that they have already charged me and cancel my contract without an early disconnect fee that I cannot afford. Also, I would like to send them their equipment back, so they can reuse it for someone who can afford their service.
