Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Mr [redacted] 's account of what happened is completely untrue He has even fabricated facts in his response I will address them one at a time First, Mr [redacted] never told me prior to beginning the installation of the floor that he could not guarantee that the grout lines would not show through the vinyl plank flooring and that he would not guarantee his work Had he done that, I would NEVER have agreed to allowing him to begin laying the floor I hired Mr [redacted] as a result of having another contractor steal thousands of dollars from me and leave my bathroom in state of disrepair, so Mr [redacted] 's guarantee of the quality of his work was paramount in my selecting him That is why I used [redacted] to locate him, to ensure that I did not have a bad experience with another contractor Second, I never insisted that Mr [redacted] should not use an underlayment beneath the vinyl plank floor This can also be proven because the new installer I hired, contacted through [redacted] , DID use an underlayment when he corrected Mr [redacted] 's work Third, I never contacted the flooring manufacturer and obtained information about the floor to give to Mr [redacted] Since I am the consumer, and not the professional installer, it was not my responsibility to find out how to properly install the floor The job of contacting the flooring manufacturer to ensure the floor was installed properly lies with Mr [redacted] I did tell Mr [redacted] that I purchased the flooring at [redacted] ***, and I did insist that it be installed so as not negate the factory warranty on the floor intself The responsibility of learning how to accomplish this task was Mr [redacted] 's The flooring installer I hired to correct Mr [redacted] 's work said he was able to obtain this information by placing a SINGLE PHONE CALL to the manufacturer I did pay Mr [redacted] in full upon the completion of his laying the floor, but it took only hours for the grout lines to show through the vinyl plank Upon contacting Mr [redacted] with this information it was only AT THIS TIME he said he could not guarantee the his work without removing the tile underneath, which would be much more costly and require my house to undergo major demolition Since I did not have the funds to pay for additional work, I waited until I could save enough money to have the floor redone I contacted Mr [redacted] months later, as he sated, to let him know I was dissatisfied with the results This time I obtained an additional estimate from [redacted] before hiring anyone to do more work in my house [redacted] came to my home and told me that Mr [redacted] had not properly filled in the grout lines beneath the vinyl plank flooring with the versa bond I am not aware if it was the wrong product or if it was done improperly, but I was informed that it needed to be done again They also told me, as I stated before, that with a SINGLE PHONE CALL to the flooring manufacturer learned that an underlayment could be laid beneath the vinyl plank without negating the manufacturer warranty on the flooring itself They informed me that the tile floor below did not need to be removed in order to properly install the floor, which was contradictory to what Mr [redacted] said When I told Mr [redacted] this he stated that he was not going to redo the floor, so I proceeded to hire [redacted] to re-install the flooring The cost to have the flooring re-installed by [redacted] was $per square foot, which included the additional underlayment material that needed to be purchased, for a total cost of $(which is ironically $cheaper than Mr [redacted] ) I therefore believe it has been proven that it is Mr [redacted] 's lack of knowledge of the flooring product and lack of motivation to acquire the knowledge of how to properly install the flooring that is at fault here.Mr [redacted] subsequently came to my house, saw the work the other flooring installer completed successfully (and for less money) without removing any of the existing tile on the floorI told Mr [redacted] that I did expect a refund for the $I paid him for the floor installation (sqfeet x $per sqfoot) He stated he would not refund my money because too much time had gone by Since it had been several months since the floor had originally been installed I told Mr [redacted] that I would accept a trade in services for the $, and if he agreed I would not report him the Revdex.com or write any bad reviews on [redacted] *** I have, to date, not written a single review on any social media outlets detailing my experiences with DW, but I do certainly intend to do so if this matter is not resolved I asked him the cost of installing crown molding, and he quoted me a price of $per linear foot I purchased linear feet of crown molding and struggled for MONTHS to get Mr [redacted] to agree to a date when he would install the molding I gave him EVERY OPPORTUNITY POSSIBLE to make this right, and he ultimately told me that I would have to sue him to get my money back This leads us to the unfortunate place we are now I want this financial matter resolved as quickly as possible, but I should not be held financially responsible for Mr [redacted] 's ineptness If he did not know how to properly install the flooring he should never have accepted the job in
